Did they run out of money? Still there from last winter.

I don't know. Are the potholes worth going to this time of year? I suppose now is just as good of a time as any. You know, beat the tourist rush and all..

As good as the Potholes are in the spring, they're absolutely lovely in the fall. I recommed that Virginia waits until fall to go to the Potholes.

Given how we just came out of one of the snowiest Winters in recent history, I'd say that repairs should be given some serious leeway this year.

At least we're not PA though, because they have some seriously crappy roadways.

I'd say that my greatest concern is the pathetic lines that we have, which can't be seen in the rain.

I don't know about Virginia, but I'm sure as hell not going to see them. Too many tourists, and the prices keep going up.

It seems like if they would put a polymer in the asphalt (like the Germans do), water wouldn't get in the cracks and freeze causing potholes.

For all the money we pay in state taxes, you would think some of it would come back to Northern Virginia. If you doubt what I am saying, drive to Charlottesville on Route 29. That road is beautiful (outside Northern Virginia) and it doesn't get used much compared to our roads.

Look up the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge and the Virginia Smart Road on Wikipedia.

The bridge, just south of Richmond, is 150 feet high (its about the size of the Springfield Interchange) carries 3 lanes each way of the Pocohantas parkway which connects I-95 with the Richmond Airport so that people will not have to drive 3 miles north to take 64 east to the airport.

The smart road is a 6 mile highway that goes from I-81 to Blacksburg. It is supposedly used for the "testing of pavement technologies" (code for "it is repaved weekly") and has the second tallest bridge on the east coast to go over some valley.

If only such ambitious projects could be built here

I've seen dozens of potholes on my commute fixed promptly. Including the huge ones at the entrance to my neighborhood.
