Headed to two big gun sellers one, Greentop down Richmond the other Gander Mt Rt 3 exit I-95 south this weekend
Greentop locked the doors and had a line standing outside so I split they were letting in people one or two at a time , backtracking up 95 I went to Gander no lines to head in , The counters had a few customers lines and tape and a sign "take a number" with a number dispenser set up like when the "Greatest Gun Salesman" was Obama I was told they had mobbed the counters lately there were handguns some expensive 1911's and Glocks and other autos I think may be used . The racks were picked away but still shotguns and some rifles in the mix, no black ARs all gone
Ammo .. all the 5.56/.223 was gone so was almost all handgun ammo I saw some stragglers on the shelves a couple boxes of .45 auto and a single box of .44 magnum. all 9mm and 38 357 40 SW gone there was a big stack of SIG 100 left , the original FBI Stainless Steel Colt Delta 10 mm load that was the big deal in the early 80s but was too powerful with heavy recoil it did not work out with all the numbers of agents the bureau had, Smith & Wesson came out with the slightly shortened 10 MM the 40 S&W and it took off . I saw a guy once with 3 dozen boxes of 10mm one time .I thought that man knows how to handle a hard hitting pistol, and he should handload and save money training and charge the pistol with the factory rounds for carrying , the 10mm is just about the same as a .357 magnum in revolver and with some loads a bit more
There was plenty of 22 rimfire even 22 shorts and CB along with a stack of 500 round boxes of Remington Thunderbolts basic .22 LR cartridge's and some hunting cartridge's for .243 .270 30-30 30-06 and 308 plus a bunch of 45-70's
Of course DAJAX can shoot the 10mm very very well , Its still a long way from the .44 Magnum that sneaky Old Man DAJAX shoots double action thru his 4-6 inch M29 & 629 Smiths with 240 grain cast lead SWC and 21 grains of 2400 ..1 grain less then Elmer Keiths load cuz Im not in his league but I can give the .357 and lesser .38s hell all day long with some fast double action work, as my hands are about as big as Bill Jorden's

Sharpshooters in Newington has bare shelves plenty of people going there to shoot, they had boxes of ammo for range customers
Greentop in Richmond has a line going around the large handgun corral , one way in and backed up 50 feet with people buying handguns. Lots of black people in that line who don't like what Democrat activists have been doing lately. Ammo for handguns was scarce , some 22 lr some 223 and other rifle calibers lots of shotgun shells. 9 and 40 and 45 choices were down to a few boxes of FMJ . A two box limit was in place. Lots of new rifles and shotguns only a couple ARs and two Aks. The supressors were all gone. The selection of used guns was much slimmer no used or new Glocks seen the shelves with semi auto handguns are almost empty
All proof that Democrats are in for the royal flush in November as people have seen their true intolerance and a glimpse of life in the Democrat controlled zones

Gander Mt. closed 5 years ago and reopened as Gander Outdoors last year. They sell camping stuff. No guns.
The ammo situation is why I personally recommend multi-caliber double action revolvers for home defense.
The S&W Governor is an ideal choice (if you don't have small hands): 45ACP, 45 Long Colt, and 410 all in one package (though I think 410 home defense is a bit overhyped unless you're using defense specific loads). Taurus is out there is you want to save a few bucks...
I like Ruger double action multi-caliber revolvers (the few of them that exist) for the same reason.
Bond Arms, with their interchangeable barrels, would be another except for the fact you only get two shots before reloading (I suppose one could buy two... over the course of two months...).
As much as the 44 Magnum take us all back to a famous film from 1971 not everyone can handle being pushed around on "big magnum range day". 44 Special is a good compromise and even 41 Magnum will get the job done (though you're going to be mail ordering ammo...).
Alas, the 44 magnum is no longer the big kid on the block (454, 460, 480, 50... in case one is a masochist...)
The point is don't knock the lighter loads: 38+P, 327 Federal (I think there is a GP100 out there still chambered in it), and our generic friend the Parabellum and all good discussion pieces and home intruder enders...
Remember that over half the Red Army infantry was armed with 7.62x25mm Tokarev spitting "Papa-Shaas" (PPSH-41) by the end of the war.

With a .45 /410 Bond Arms snake eyes double derringer , watch out for your kneecaps if you step on their toes , both of mine are "shot"

Is the one you can shoot accurately and bring into the fight fast , for me that's the gunfighters first choice the 1911 45 auto "Old Slab Sides" two of those and a snub nose 38 and you wont have to play mind games DAJAX

Well it has been said that the 1911 is almost a perfect handgun so you have me there.
Lots of ammo now at Greentop off I95 just above Richmond .556 and 9mm target ammo galore plus some defense ammo no Speer Gold Dots seen. They have .22 LR and 45 acp 308 30 carbine and a lot more calibers in stock at higher prices then you want to see . Lots of bullets in stock for handloaders and loading equipment , the only primers seen were mil spec 556 small primers at 89.00 a thousand -limit one thousand per customer that's twice the price of last year when President Trump was in office , little in the way of powders , handgun powders go fast so do common rifle powders and its always the big rifle magnum powders that move slow
Stocks of new rifles and shotguns were good but stocks of used are still off, plenty of used auto handguns very few revolvers used some new auto handguns , lots of holsters in stock and scopes suppressors and AR accessories , things are slowly starting to get back, at least being able to get some ammo to shoot but it all looks like its at a higher price then last year
With the Glenn Younkin coming in as governor and the Republicans now in control of the Virginia House of Delegates in 2022 and only two senators short as Democrats control the Senate things are looking up but its still not all back yet its got a long way to go but there will be no gun bans or new gun laws for the next for years in Virginia min. By 2023 that will be the same with the US congress and the Supremes are on track to overturn NYs antigun carry laws to at least make shall issue the law of the land ,good bye Maryland and DC's resistance to the law abiding citizens rights to carry or even being able to transport a gun to a motel when staying at the beach or overnight as a traveler
>Gander Mt. closed 5 years ago and reopened as Gander Outdoors last year. They sell camping stuff. No guns.
>Lots of guns with a take a number machine when they are mobbed , they still have >some that have not sold ...yet Ammo shelves bare
Now they don't sell guns , there all gone so expect them to shut the doors soon misguided management. Sadly came by there heading down 95 to Richmond to avoid 95 and was shocked , few customers too in the store hope they can make it without guns , don't like to see any business go under
When Democrat House politicians get DWIs then steal Republicans signs and get caught by police with it all in the news a day before the election .BTW he lost Tues. lol. Down Roanoke area
To be honest, I am also interested in various weapons and hunting as it is my hobby. By the way, one day I needed to find some equipment that would help make the whole process much better. One of my friends told me this site https://www.agmglobalvision.com/thermal-imaging where it is possible to find thermal devices and and learn more about how it works and also order it. Accordingly, if you are also interested in this, you can take a look at the site.

That's not good advice.
Revolvers generally have 5-6 rounds and shoot a single bullet that can be very inaccurate, especially at night.
A Mossberg 500 or similar pump-action shotgun (if you can find one these days) is the route to go. Use 00 (or other buckshot, not bird/trap) and you have an ideal home defense weapon. Just the racking sound alone will likely stop intruders. If you need to pull the trigger, the buckshot spread isn't huge but from 15-20 feet, you get roughly about 6-8" spread. Getting 9-12 bullets in one shot is better than 1 bullet.
By the way, the gun show is back in town 31st Dec-2nd Jan.
Lots of ammo in many handgun and rifle calibers at Greentop now in stock down by Richmond off I 95.
9mm about 21 dollar a box of 50 for range ammo 11-14 a box of 20 for .556 others comparable boxes in quantity of 50 100 and more are there. Not much in the way of self-defense ammo but they did have some 9mm sales with Hornaday, still no Speer Gold Dots or Remington Golden Saber
Lots of bullets in the reloading components section but scarce amounts of powders and they do have a small stock of primers by the thousand lot, they just were out when I was there the price for CCI small and large pistol and rifle was 89.50 a thousand that's almost 3 times higher than it was when President Trump was in office, they had a number of reloading presses dies and other equipment but the prices with the primers are so high it makes little sense to reload to keep costs down looks like almost all production is going into loaded ammunition and will be for some time , Not too much .22 LR or any rimfire they did have .17 rimfire , it comes and goes There were some sealed cans of AK 7.62X39 and one old one of 8mm Mauser for sale , may have been estate sale items which you will see at Greentop , I have seen many good deals on these estate sale items in the past there
Good supply of black rifles used and new , Handguns are not in stock like they were , new long guns a good number to choose from , magazines , holsters scopes the same
Last gun show I went to at Chantilly back in May there were no deals at all I found G43X and G48's at a gun shop far cheaper then the show , no ammo deals either
