I've never had one, but mom had 2 and close friend had 1. For mother, recovery from the surgery itself was not bad. However, other complications were...epidural did not work due to arthritis in her back so she was in pain after surgery when she should not have been. Then, she was horribly nauseous from morphine but better when they switched her to oxy. All will clog digestive system, so take the softeners and eat fiber...the GI issues were the worst for my mother! And speak up at the first sign something is not right. Can't give you doc names tho, as she lives in NC. Might want to also stock up on some protein shakes to get your strength back!
Friend here had it done through Kaiser. OMG, now she needs a revision, and it took her a long time to recover from the first botch job. Lesson here is to be diligent about finding a doctor with a good reputation AND with whom you are comfortable.
Also, do your therapy before and after. The more prepared you are, the better the outcome. Good luck!
