We were there, as well. It was good to be back at the park. I am guessing that few were interested in a Majors vs. Minors intra-squad which would account for the sparse crowd. I was glad to go but once was enough for that. I am hoping that next year, they will return to what they had done in previous years.

The hockey game that evening (we went to both) was far more interesting. Despite my being a Habs fan, it was good to see two teams go at it in a game that was a "must win" for both. I was not surprised that it went into overtime. Both teams were pressing their attacks. Washington did have a slight edge on defensive play. Carlson saved one goal that almost got behind Lindgren. As Carlson is a defenceman, that is part of his job. The scorers should have credited Carlson with a save.

I was surprised that There were not any real fights. There was a bit of shoving here and there but that was about it. There was one time that came close to a fight when one of the Washington player's (I forget which one, now) follow-throughs from a shot hit the Detroit goalie. The referees did not call "high-sticking", "slashing" or"roughness" s they must have seen it as incidental as well. One of the Detroit players shoved that Washington player but the referees got between the two quickly.

Washington has a tough schedule ahead: two against Boston (wild Card #2 draws Boston in round One of the playoffs); two against Buffalo; one against Tampa; one against Toronto. We will be at both of the Boston games.

There were many Detroit fans in attendance.

Yes, there were several.

The Nationals got rid of CSC and replaced them with "Best Security". Capital One Arena uses Best s ushers but CSC mans the entrances and exits. According to several of the Account Representatives that we have had over the years, CSC has been the subject of more than a few complaints. Girlfriend and I have had a few run-ins with them over the years. We have seen a few other run-ins that people had with them.

After one day, the Best employees did appear to be a bit more civil but you can not judge on one day with a sparse crowd.

We are looking forward to Monday.against Pittsburgh. They are calling fo A.M> rain. Hopefully it is gone by 4:30 The called-for high is sixty so bring a jacket.

10K paid, though it didn’t seem like they all showed up. I loved the chance to see the kids in person. I really like Jarlin Susana. Henry Rodriguez with better control. I think he might be a good one.

I think so too. Back in college, our goalie got trapped out of the crease, so I jumped in just as an opponent unleashed a hard one-timer. It’s about 20 miles to the park. But the idea is to be wealthy and healthy enough to do travel in your middle years, as the kids are doing right now in Grenada. Ever been there? Lindgren actually was in the crease. He had just saved one shot and the puck had bounced to this Detroit player who was about to sneak it behind a recovering Lindgren. He was right at the pole and was going to sneak it between the pole and Lindgren's skate. Carlson got a stick on it and bounced it out of there. That "sneak-behind" shot was one of Réjean Houle's specialties when he played for the Habs.
