Will tha Massey Building be demolished????
Posted by: on the beat ()
Date: January 29, 2007 01:20PM

Heard a rumor that because of serious physical plant problems, the 180-foot tall, 13-story Massey Building (headquarters to Fairfax County Police and Fire Departments) on Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax is being considered for demolition.

Anybody heard anything about it?

And after it is taken down, Firrat will follow up with posts about how a cruise missile took out the Massey Building. Not that using a cruise missile wouldn't be the coolest way to do it.

No. The tallest\highest building in FFX county is the Reston Sheraton. The land is also the tallest point in FFX.

They have to demolish it. Asbestos land is not exactly a healthy work environment. Besides the air conditioning and heating is broken in most of the building...

I was wrong. The tallest land point in Fairfax County according to USGS is Peachgrove Stockade in Falls Church, with Grant Hill in Falls Church a close second - http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic/f?p=163:2:13506466131226996241:fsp_sort_10_desc::RP&fsp_region_id=14408642454470841952

Grant Hill? He's from Reston, not Falls Church.

See what they build in its place. Another multi billion dollar Taj Mahal like they have off 29. Personal saunas and underground parking for all the execs and a cafeteria staffed by wolfgang puck.

My grandfather sold the land to make way for this building. It has served its purpose.

The government/judicial complex has taken on a life of its own around it. Time for it to become the next money pit for tax dollars and become the next world apart LOL.

First the new Public Safety headquarters building Fairfax Corner needs to be completed in 2016. Then the Police and Fire & Rescue management and employees will move out of the ancient and decrepit Massey Building and into the new building.

After that Massey will likely be imploded. Budget and schedule for that has not yet been made public.

It would be a good idea to fill the building with county bureaucrats before demolition. Make a truly fresh start.

i call it la'courthouse

their are a team of mexican contractors there all day every day doing BULLSHIT work on a NEW BUILDING ... also they are using illegals to repair a historic bldg.

no doubt your cavalier attitude is rooted in the fact you are cheering for more employment for illegals by democrats

it was f'ing foreigner contractors that caused the complaints the building has

if i read the complaints correctl. such as: lack of proper drainage. roof leakage.

they continually hired (and they should be arrested for doing so) a long line of f'ing foreigner maintenance including multiple roof repairs over a span of say 20 years - never actaully repeairing the leak

THATS ALLOT OF FUCKING FRAUD. enough for jailtime.

is the building level and what is the proof ?

has there been any load/stress/fracture/rust reports from bldg or maintenance review experts ?

i've heard allot of bullshit about the building not being built to any standards but VA standards

what i havent heard is ANYTHING SPECIFIC proving there is any merit to those continually trolling to "bring down da house"

this guy might fix it until it pops like an old cadillac if it's his (caveat: using your towns money, which he recently entered)

but might leaves lotsa bad mistakes if it's for YOU so you'll end up spending more fixing it than you paid to have it fixed , esp if his boss told him "to get more money from the customers or your fired" , .. you have to be careful
