Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
He gave me no additional information except to say I need to exercise more and lose 15-20 lbs.
WTF?
Is this something that could lead to a heart attack and kill my ass? This was a government doctor which means he spent exactly 7.5 minutes with me so there really wasn't a lot of time for chit chat.
I know FU is loaded with cardiologists and other medical experts, so I figure I can get some top notch feed back on here.
Probably not. Something like 15% of people have irregular heartbeats. The vast majority are preventricular circulatory pauses (PVCs) and are completely innocuous...not sure why you are coming to this crowd for advice though...
Yes a irregular heartbeat can kill you..Of sudden cardiac arrest, of blood clots that can form and block the heart, lodge in the brain or lungs..
That said as Boglin sez theres many with a irregular beat .You Doc sez loose some weight..That does not seem to alarming. So do your best to achive that. Losing weight is a huge simple way to get back into good health.
Ive Been Telling myself that for years!!
DAJAX And Drugs yes can Kill you quick like Cocaine..in excess or somethings not..Alcohol in excess..way excess like drinking over a 12 pack or less with some ..can cause many heart problems too even if its a one nighter.. And regular Heavy use ..past being Johhny Six Pack "Can" cause many problems.. So Chill Out and Less Gobbling Pal!!
By all means, ask this bunch of morons for medical advice. God knows there aren't any reliable sources of medical information on the Web--no Mayo clinic, no WebMD.
Um, you were talking with your doctor when he told you about your irregular heartbeat. You didn't have any questions about what he had just told you? Don't you think it's kinda important? Did you at least Google it?
How heavy are you? What are your cholesterol levels? Triglycerides? Blood pressure? There are a ton of factors that can determine your chances of having some kind of medical event like heart attack or stroke. Do you smoke? Drink? What is your diet like?
For fuck's sake. See a doctor who will spend some time discussing these things with you. And if they refer you to a cardiologist, make sure they spend time discussing them with you.
In the end, it's your life. You could kick the bucket any second. As could we all.

PVC actually stands for "premature ventricular contraction". A lot of people have PVC's. It means your ventricle decided to fire out of sync with the usual atrial stimulus.
There are also PAC's, which are early extra beats originating in the atrium which is above the ventricle. Lots of people have them, also.
PVC's are more serious because they can technically lead to ventricular fibrillation which of course means you are dead.
Lots of PAC's can eventually evolve into atrial fib or other atrial rapid rhythms, which can also be problematic.
Losing weight can help with both. Eliminating alcohol, caffeine, stress, and smoking can also help. Sometimes both of these can require medical management. A lot of people lead perfectly normal lives with these.

I stand corrected. I have PVCs, but mind them no attention. They did cause me to pass out once (in 20 years)...I totally felt like my heart completely stopped and then I pretty much passed out like I took a huge hit of nitrous. Everything went tunnel and then black...maybe that was ventricular fibrillation. Well shit OP, maybe you can die.

You get me wrong. Ain't nobody bragging about doing nitrous...that shit is stupid. Just saying that your heart stopping might be like that, the result of some sort of primitive death response from lack of oxygen to the brain.

Get magnesium. It is notoriously laden with arsenic for some reason. There are good sources though. Google it and reality check if you are overweight, boozing and or have a poor diet.
It says you must keep your right index finger inserted its entire length up your rectum at least 16 hours a day every day. You've got to eat 0.375 kg of broccoli every day for the rest of your life.
If you're employed, I hope you have an understanding employer.
You'll be the Original Stinky Finger of your neighbourhood; dogs will howl and your neighbours will point as you pass by.
Women will flock to you. They've never fucked a stinky finger before.
But it's better than taking the dirtnap.
One hopes you know better than to ask for medical advice here.
Wait... DAJAX is a person? Hahaha ok sorry about that. I thought it was an abbreviation for something. I wasn't trying to impersonate anyone...
Yes +P loads keeps it quiet. Shit who knows maybe now it won't take an act of congress and a $$$$$ tax stamp to buy a can to put on a .22... Better than anything for taking care of goddamn squirrels in my backyard and, well... you know.... hahahaha

The funny part about all this is I have NEVER experienced any of the symptoms listed in all these websites. I honestly had no concern at all until this doctor informed me of the irregular heartbeat.
