Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
As many as 50 puppies were seized by Animal Control officers in Fairfax County, Virginia on Monday as officers investigated a pet shop.
The dogs were removed from Dreamy Puppy in Chantilly, Virginia. Animal Control officers had received multiple complaints from citizens about the health of the puppies, a representative said.
The puppies were taken to a veterinarian to be examined and to determine their approximate age. Dogs sold in pet stores must be no younger than eight weeks old, the Animal Control representative said.
The investigation into Dreamy Puppy is ongoing. No charges have been filed.
The owner of the business declined to comment on the probe.

Maybe they could give them to some Korean resturant owners to take care of them.

My current two dogs came from Dreamy Puppy in Chantilly. The dogs are bred to be small by mixing two small breeds into a "designer" dog. My dogs were not sold underage.

Bullshit. When I was there, albeit several years ago, the counter was manned by two younger middle easterners. The puppies were in "compartments" along the wall.
I'm sure in the time since I've been there they had a change of heart and started running and above board operation, right?

I bought two pure-bred chihuhuas. One was $400 and the other was $600. They were not crossbred with anything as most of the others were.

Best watchdogs ever. You can't even creep around our house without them knowing and alerting us. They must sleep with one eye open at all times.

Since 7 years ago the place shut down because of the way it was run, some one else bought it and re- opened it and the dogs looked much happier and healthier. Some what trained and high school kids like hang out there and play with the puppies. Also, Now the dogs were bought from local breeders up and down the east coast and picked up by the staff. It's possible that one or two were underaged but it's a risk you take even getting from a breeder.

What are you talking about? the Fairfax County animal shelter is not going to kill the puppies. Please do your research. The Fairfax Animal County has done an awesome job of getting a ton of dogs and cats adopted. In any event tons of people have stepped up asking to adopt the puppies, but they haven't even gotten that far yet. The investigation is still on going.

Please do your research before getting a dog. Pet Stores who sell puppies get them from puppy mills. Google Puppy Mills. The Humane Society has investigated Dreamy Puppy and they get their dogs from awful puppy mills where they shoot the puppies parents when they're finished with them.
Adopting from a shelter or rescue group is the best, but if you want to go to a breeder research a reputable one. NO reputable breeder would dump their puppies at a pet store to be sold and not know where they ended up! I can't believe this is still occurring in 2015!
