I didn't witness this. My parents live off Greeley and told me that they heard a ton of sirens.

(not saying they weren't in a crosswalk I don't want to speak ill of the person).....
....I was just out here walking- I make it a point to walk in ALL the crosswalks, even if cutting across is faster. This accident is why. I don't want to play frogger out here in this traffic!!!!

That probably means the the drive got some good hang time with the pedestrian. Nicely done!

First of all that's a 4 lane road so the speed limit is at least 45. I suspect we will see it was a combination of pedestrian crossing highway illegally and driver speeding/texting/playing with phone.
If the red car was the hitter, they punted the pedestrian all the way across 4 lanes and into the bushes. Nice punt!

Because there is no real crime around here. About a year ago a man was hit close to that spot same walking to St. Bernadettes. If victim was female, it was probably the Asian lady walks there all the time.

There are two cars involved. Female pedestrian was near the Bus stop.
The accident happened on Old Keene Mill near Greeley Boulevard p.m. Police say a car struck a woman and veered toward another lane, striking an additional car.
The pedestrian died as a result of her injuries and police have not released her name at this time.
The crash involved two cars and police say several people were injured.

"Sally wiser" I was standing right there and sadly it was the body. Did you want me to uncover it to prove it to you? They have now taken it away. The car as well off the road; it veered off prior to the bus stop and knocked over the bus stop sign. The body was a few feet after the bus stop and closer to the road, but I couldn't tell the actual point of impact.

Also, after that photo above was taken, the cops picked up the sheet and layed it out more carefully. During that process the body underneath was visible.

Yes, it's the job of first responders and they are well trained to handle such accidents. They are still people and hate to have to deal with these things. That's why I pray for them jus like I pray for the surgical staff before surgery on a friend. It's a kind gesture when I have nothing else to offer.

Wttg 5 just ran a two minute segment on the ten o'clock news. Alexandra L. Reported. Stated that the black Acura was going Eastbound. Struck the woman, crossed the median to strike a red Toyota and then ended up back in Eastbound lanes.
Woman lived in Westview Hills. Her family has not been notified yet.

This is true. And people hit by cars can be pretty gory. I witnessed an accident in NC a few years ago and the guy lost both his legs. That's not something you soon forget.

I live a block from here. Walked passed the scene about 3 p.m.
It looked as if the driver hit the bus stop sign, so there's a good chance the victim was simply waiting for the bus (not crossing the street illegally). That bus stop is so incredibly unsafe, despite being so heavily used. My friend's mom waits at that bus stop every morning. It's only a foot from the road. No sidewalk. Just grass and a ditch. Totally unacceptable. People zoom down that hill going 55 mph plus all the time (the speed limit it 45).

I just don't see the point of leaving her body out in the sun for several hours. Were they planning to show her to family members in order to identify her?

Why must they keep the deceased body there for hours? It's done all the time due to investigation, collecting enough evidence to prosecute.
A woman was killed in the parking lot where I worked. Hot August day. Police investigated for seven hours that day. Frieda's body laid on the pavement for six hours with a white sheet over it. All of her coworkers, including me, we're so upset.

The woman had not been identified and the police were hoping that a family member might come along and they could lead them over to the deceased person to make a formal identification. Otherwise the family would have to go the morgue and watch them open a refrigerated drawer containing a loved one. Then it might not be the right person and cause a wasted trip and unnecessarily upset unrelated people. It's also better if family can actually see what happened with the accident scene still intact.

Obviously there was a doctor on the scene to declare her dead because no one else there is qualified to make that determination, right? Otherwise, the body should have been taken to the nearest hospital regardless.

The victim rode the bus because she did not know how to drive for some reason. This happened in West Springfield. The illegals and rooming houses are found more than a mile further down Old Keene Mill Rd. They run across the road down there by the 7-11 all the time, at night, wearing black clothing.
The driver veered off the road in the intersection. You can see the tire tracks and where the police have sprayed paint to identify the vehicle path.

EMTs and paramedics can't legally pronounce someone dead, but they can make a "determination of death" based on the condition of the person they're trying to treat.
There are times where it's very obvious someone is dead and no amount of medical intervention is going to bring that person back to life, for example decapitation or complete avulsion of the brain.
If this woman was hit at 45+ miles per hour, it's likely her injuries were so severe that she was dead before the rescue squad could arrive.

The bus stop was pulled back from the road; the new sign is already up. Yet, all the other bus stops still remain along the road, no space between vehicles and pedestrians.
A nearby bus shelter was struck by a car several months ago. This stretch of road is dangerous for pedestrians and bicyclists. It's long overdue for some sidewalk/ paved path set back a few feet off the road.

So this is at least his third dui and he is still on probation for the last. At 22? I have no sympathy, it was just a matter of time for him.
Thankfully, this should be a prison sentence and not just jail...does Fairfax bill Spotsylvania county for all this or do we have to foot the bill? It doesn't help traffic either since this winner took out someone who takes public transportation.

Old Keene Mill Road is dangerous period. A couple of weeks ago, I was walking my two dogs across, obeying the cross walk signal near Bauer, when two cars went through a red light. I was already about 1/4 of the way across. I'm all for cameras. That being said, this guy needs the book thrown at him.

Anyone disturbed that this idiot committed this crime in our neighborhood (I live right off Greeley)?

Thinking about how long it would take alcohol to travel from his mouth down his throat he might have stopped drinking hours before the accident and his BAC would still be rising.

I don't get the point...so he might have had reason to think was ok to drive? So that means he "stopped" drinking in the morning. In my experience, no one who drinks in the morning (and apparently habitually) "stops" at any time in the day.

I often stand at that bus stop weekday mornings at Old Keene Mill Road and Greeley. As I wait for the bus with the cars zooming by a few feet away, I have often thought that if one of those cars accidentally swerved off the road in my direction, I would be lucky if I had one second to jump. The steep hill adds to the safety hazard. Cars late for work come shooting down the hill and practically bottom out as they whiz past the bus stop. Some kind of safety barrier is needed to protect the bus riders. Maybe a guard rail or steel poles set in concrete. Something. Anything would help.
Does the state or county wait until a quota of deaths occur at a dangerous intersection before installing pedestrian safety features or is that just a myth?

In the stretch between Greeley and hillside, there have been at least 3 fatal pedestrian accidents in the last few years that I can think of. Maybe more. Not sure what would fix it. Maybe more severe punishments for shit stains/repeat offenders who don't belong in our county in the first place might have prevented one of these at least.

Why? You can take a person's drivers permit away but that doesn't stop them from getting behind the wheel of a car. Approx 28% of all cars on the road in FX County any given day are being driven by with a suspended license. Or someone who never even bothered to get a license. And don't even talk about insurance!

Sorry Samantha and Jessica, but your friend is going away for a long time this time. Considering he shouldn't have even been behind the wheel of a car based on his driving record and now he has killed someone due to his reckless behavior, he is looking at hard time.
I hope he has insurance because if he doesn't he is ruined financially as well.
I have a friend in jail right now for killing one and severely injuring another in a DUI crash all because she was mad her boyfriend dumped her and she went out and got hammered and drove. She isn't getting out until 2017 which will be 8 years. Her life is ruined. And she had a very normal life up until this happened.

None of us are perfect, but it drives me crazy when people refer to this kind of thing as a mistake... "oopsy, I killed someone"
A mistake is hitting reply all on an email you didn't mean to send... or leaving your car door unlocked... or getting ketchup on your shirt. Getting intoxicated and then intentionally driving a 45 mph piece of heavy machinery down a road with the community in danger is not a mistake. Mistakes can be made up for. This not so much.

Why didn't one of Corey's supporters prevent him from driving?
Why didn't one of his passengers insist on driving?
A sober person could have hit a person at a bus stop and it would cause grief to so many.
When a habitual offender hits and kills a person, family grieves; the community wants to keep drunks off the road.
Samantha, Jessica, and others that know Corey..... How many times in the past four years has someone tried to get Corey help for his addiction?
He has been warned not to drive....
Last court date should have been a wake up call...if not his first court date in 2012. Yet, Corey ignored his odds. Thought that he wouldn't take the life of another living soul.
Why do some people think that it is okay to drink and Drive?
I doubt that this will be a wake up call for him. Alcoholism is a disease.

METRO and VDOT need to clean up their act on bus stop safety.
The stops on many roads are not safe.
This death is tragic and needs to shed light on the safety of bus stops.
May this senseless death also be a lesson for another twisted driver to star off the roadway!
