Does anyone have any recommendations for someone to do online PI work? For instance, I’m looking for someone who when given a cell number or phone number can find out basic information about that person. Info such as full name, residence, martial status, work history, prior arrest record, etc. Maybe also social media posts.
I suppose that there are probably some good national chains. Any recommendations? I don't mind independent folks if they come with recommendations
PS – I’d prefer to pay a fixed price for an agreed upon set of information that pay someone by the hour.
With the changes in the law, the usual techniques PIs used to do this, such as pretexting are now illegal. Also many cell phones now are prepaid, so if there is ownership info it is likely to be inaccurate.
Some PIs will do this but it is not quite legal and they charge accordingly. And if they smell bacon they run.
As far as my question, it seems that there are probably firms with access to e-mail and phone look-ups that go beyond the free web stuff. I'm sure that there is probably a legal sub-culture that does this online research. Legal -- not malicious doxing.
BTW - Is there such a think as a free and reliable reverse phone look-up service? Every one I have found on the Internet seems to say "this number is located in this city ... now pay us to find out more"

There are no directories of cell numbers except those held by cell companies, and most, if not all, means of getting that info are illegal.

Most of them are fronts for Intelius, a known scam run by notorious scammer Naveen Jain. They pull information from public records. If there is any info to be had, it is likely years out of date and inaccurate. It is also pretty easy to "opt out" of these things, so any intelligent person does that just to preserve their privacy and having information about them sold by Naveen Jain and those like him.
This is a pretty good question. With all the computer expertise on this board nobody has any recommendations for someone to help this guy out doing online research?
