Still hear talk of school start times. Thought this problems was resolved.

What time does FCPS schools start(Elementary, Middle, High)?

When I went to school in the '70's and '80's these were my start/end times:

Elementary: 8:05 a.m./2:35 p.m. Monday's were the exception(1:05 p.m.)
Middle: 8:15 a.m./3:30 p.m.
High: 7:55 a.m./2:05 p.m.

Did you just emerge from a cave? Thawed out after years in suspended animation after being frozen under an avalanche?

What normal person can still recall the exact start/end times from their 70's elementary days?!?

Troll is just trying to remind us that the FCPS school board just wasted $6 Million to delay high school start times so that teens might sleep 30 minutes longer.

It's budget season. Expect more of this.

Speaking of trolls. Most of the cost was for new buses that would have been needed anyway, and the change was not the school board's idea. Bunch of moron right-wing populists were blocking all lines of communication over their inane
notions that high-schoolers were sleep-deprived. Making the minor changes in start times was a cheap and so far effective way to shut the morons up.

Not a troll was just wondering what time schools are now compared to when I went to school. Are they much if any different from when I went to school?

Hey, what can I say, I have an excellent memory. I remember what I hate so I hated when schools starts and remember what I like so I liked when schools ended.

Well, I'm a moron right winger who thinks the little darlings should get their butts in bed on time so they can get up at a normal working time. That's what I make my teens do and there is no problem.

But most left-wingers don't believe parents should have any authority, so they buy into the BS that teens have some different sleep pattern from all other humans. Yeah, they do! It's called surfing and texting all night!

Astronomical Twilight 6:02 AM EDT tomorrow - I get to wake my 12 year old up at NIGHT (6am) to get ready for school. Sunrise isnt until an hour and a half after that (Actual Time Sunrise 7:31 AM EDT). He will literally wake up at night to go to school and be in class before sunrise.

What a bunch of candy-assed wimps those SLEEP people are. The school board was able to get them to shut up and stop whining for a measly 20 minutes. Just 20 stupid minutes. Meaningless. They just caved for next to nothing. It would still cost the 5 or 6 million whether it is 20 minutes or 60 minutes. Rather than going for a bank robbery, they just settled for a 7-11. Dumb.

You are probably the type of person that thinks things should be like the good old days. You know the days when grown ups didnt send their kids to school at night. The days when grown ups bore the minimum amount of responsibility and made sure that there were enough schools and buses to transport kids.

Stop blaming the failures of adults of your generation on the kids and/or asserting bogus nobility to suffering the incompetence of your generation like it is some virtue to be attained. Why not just do your job as an adult and take care of kids instead of crying like a bitch?

Even Newfoundland didnt have sunrise when I woke my kid up for school today. Messed up yo

New start times are posted for HS. Added 50 minutes to my kids' HS. Real question is when does the bus come? Given the traffic at that time, I'm guessing we might get 20 minutes later on bus pickup.

How could you so completely misunderstand what I was trying to say? What I was saying is that the SLEEP people sold out for next to nothing. They caved and let the school board bitch-slap them. Weenies. And you need some help with reading comprehension.

The SLEEP parents were conspiring with Boosterthon to put in more turf fields, which are a good place to bury illegals you didn't way to pay, while driving around in your tinted-window car listening to Chad Dukes for the next FCPS snow day announcement.

No need to start later, in fact kids should stay in school another hour per day. Start at 0700 and end at 1600!

Middle schoolers got shafted still have to wake up hours before sunrise to get the bus. I get up with my kid, no adults are up even at 630 when we walk to the stop. Its dark we can see whose lights are on, not many and most that are up are families with kids.

NOVA sends millions to Richmond and gets pennies back so we cannot afford to provide enough transportation for our kids. Sucks
