Has no one ever heard of flashing your lights at a car ahead as a request for him or her to move a lane over? The cop in the video should meanwhile have been thrown off the force.

I cheered when I watched this. In some states it is illegal to cruise in the left lane if you are not passing. Try that on the NY Thruway and see what happens.

It's just common courtesy to keep right except to pass. We all get there without incident when everyone follows this standard.

Intercity driving with low traffic volumes is a separate matter. In the video, traffic was heavy enough that all lanes were already in use and all were at very close to the same speed and density.

Passing the driving test was a minimum competency test.

1. you have no idea the actual speed of the person in the video thus nullifying your entire rational. The driver could and likely is going the speed limit. They are 'causing problems' not because of their speed but their speed relative to traffic.

I'm in the left lane either doing the speed limit or maybe 5 mph over it. I see in my rear view mirror that a vehicle is coming up on my car.....here's what i do

1. Move to right. Car passes then I get back in the left lane if I don't see anyone else coming up fast.

2. If I cannot move to the right then I speed up until I can move to the right. Car passes then I get back in the left lane if i don't see anyone else coming up fast.
