Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
I don't know if anyone remembers me, I haven't posted on FFXU in a long time. But i've just arrived in Northern Virginia (moved here from NJ.) I drove down this morning. I'll be living near Fairfax City. Can anyone recommend some cool things to do and maybe some good places to eat? I'd like to get the true Fairfax experience. I've already experienced some typical 495 traffic.
I guess the name "South Jersey" is no longer relevant, since I am now one of ya'll. Hey thanks for taking the time to read this!
"South Jersey" is no longer relevant since you're "one of us"...uh, no. Typical Yankee...doesn't value where he's from enough to maintain pride in his beginnings. Hey...you never know...there's been lots of adopted sons and daughters of the South who we're proud of...
But, you'll never be "one of us". That requires you having been born and raised here...or at least in the South. Take my neighbor...he was born and raised in Southern PA. He's as redneck-country as they come. But, he ain't Southern and he don't pretend to be.
He knows Goddamn well if he tries and tell me to sell my slaves or otherwise how to live my life, that'll I'll die if necessary protecting my state's rights and smoke him or any other interloper that tells me otherwise in the process...

My name is Karab Omaba, and I have a special opportunity only for those who respond immediately.
Maryland and Virginia have been fighting over the Cabin John Bridge for years now, and have sent it up for arbitration. Please wire funds to me, Karab Omaba, and you will be sent a certificate of your percentage of ownership.

Meet me at the Ravensworth 7-11 tomorrow morning at 6:30am if you need a job doing carpentry work.

I'm guessing you've never left NOVA before. If so, you'd know that there are tons of areas in NJ that aren't accessible by the Turnpike. You sound like a dumbass.

Well, you guessed wrong, Sparky. Did a stint at AT&T Bell Labs as a contractor, and married a girl from Morristown. We used to visit her folks there all the time while they were alive.
Yes, yes, the Delware Water Gap is nice, and I like Cape May. But those nice suburbs in Basking Ridge and Bernardsville are completely overpowered by Newark, the city that looks like a crushed PBL beer can soaking in chemical waste. You want to hear about the time I spent at NJIT, that armed camp that passes for a school?
And don't kid yourself, everything is off the Turnpike. Everything. Jerseyites size each other up by exit.
