Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
The only one I hate is that stretch of 95 as you enter Delaware. Backs up every damned time and the road there is no better than the rest of 95 even with the tolls.

I hate them because we pay to build the roads through our taxes and we endure the traffic hassles while they are being built; we shouldn't be forced to pay every time we use the roads, as well.
And what about people who can't afford to pay a toll every time they use a road?
Where will this toll nonsense end? They now are talking about putting tolls on I66? What is next? Are we going to have to pay a toll to use Route 7 between Sterling and Tysons?
I drove from Northern Virginia to NYC a couple of weeks ago. While I go to NYC often, it was the first time I had driven there in some time as opposed to taking the train or flying. While I can easily afford to pay the tolls assessed, I was absolutely shocked at how expensive they came out to be. It must have been somewhere around $40.
Please. Just say no!

Come on, gunslinger. Admit that you haven't been over the Delaware Turnpike since the EZ-Pass fast-lanes were installed. Meanwhile, all of I-95 north of the McHenry and Harbor Tunnels is toll road except in PA and then through CT, RI, and MA.
I'm already paying taxes to have these roads built and managed, so why should I want to pay a toll to use them? PS: I know the Greenway is privately owned, so that doesn't apply.

That's awful. It's almost like people are trying to discourage driving or something. What we should do of course is strike back by enacting a meals tax. Make these toll-enforcing yankees pay us back every time they come down here to lobby or whatever.

I don't drive past NYC, at those distances (and usually it's just Boston) it's easier to fly.
But Baltimore you can take 695 around to avoid the tolls or if you're feeling a little gutsy, take 95 to the Inner Harbor, cut over a few blocks then pick up 83 taking you north then pick up 695 inner loop to reconnect with 95.
They F up traffic in the builing of them...With Bullshit like "We are Widening the BeltWay" And We endure years of Traffic jams.. To Find Out That They are really Toll Roads With Super High Price Gouging 4.25 Today Braddock to Maryland line One way. No ONE IN THE TOLL LANES... FUCK MCDONNEL AND ALL THE ASSES WHO BROUGHT THIS ON. Whos Got 4-9 dollars for a 8 mile 1 way ride??
I95 SOUTH WILL BE ANOTHER SUPREAME RIP OFF TOLLS 24/7 FROM THE GONG TO STAFFORD. NO 1 PERSON FREE HOV HOURS NO FREE HOURS AT ALL FOR ANYONE. NO MORE SLUGS NEEDED ITS ALL TOLLS.
THIS WILL COST OVER 1 BILLION FOR VA TO GET OUT OF! WHEN IT OPENS AND THE WRATH OF THE PEOPLE GROWS!

Yes, you can avoid the $4 tunnel toll by wasting time and $4 for the extra gallon of gasoline you'll burn.

Really? You think there's something "gutsy" about driving a few blocks through downtown Baltimore? Are there black people there or something? Mexicans? Three-toed sloths?
I hate those fucken toll roads, I have paid two fucken tickets because of them
Fucken asswholes. Who's idea was it in the first place, the fucken IRS is not enaught. Fucken dicks
I have no objection to purely private toll roads constructed with privately raised capital and built on privately owned land, with the maximum public contribution being limited to the use of eminent domain statutes. I have no objection to the government constructing, maintaining and operating its own roads that are paid for with user tolls rather than taxes. What I object to is these public-private partnerships.
