This has come up before in previous threads, but ethanol-laced gas has slightly less energy per gallon and (if I recall) burns hotter than pure gas. Not much difference if you're running it through a large engine like your car, but in small ones like your chain saw the difference can be marked.
Also, I'll bet the easiest one to get to from Fairfax is the one in Front Royal, which is also the only one I'm certain is still selling non-ethanol gas, or was a couple of months ago. Nice straight shot west on 66.
