Anyone here a Madison?
Posted by: FUNdamental ()
Date: August 01, 2008 09:38AM

A woman in my office will be applying to become a Madison this fall. A collegue, when he heard this said “well she drinks enough.”

Ouch.

So I asked my wife about the Madisons and she said that they were “one dress size lower than “Late Night Shots.” She said their charitable contributions in DC were far, far, lower than Junior League, that their main objective is to become “trophy wives,” because they bar married or committed women, and they ban you at 30 years old, even if you are still single. She also said they didn’t allow non white women in until last year, and the non white women they finally allowed in (two out of 100 members), were very accomplished (doctor, attorney), and they sent out a press release about it.

She also said they take into acount your father's income when you apply, and that it is very hard to get in the social group if you are a Democrat or Independent.

Is anyone here a Madison, and is this stuff true?

The Madisons are a great bunch of top notch ladies.

Do these women look like party animals to you?

Of course my wife would look down on Madisons. The Madisons took the outline of the Junior League, added a few requirements to get any non party animals out of it, watered down the charitable aspect, and proceeded to build an exclusive club for young, single, family wealthy, Republican, twenty something women that drink heavily, and only shop at Mazza Gallery.

To compare themselves with the Junior League, as they often do, is like comparing George W. Bush to John F. Kennedy.

Too bad some of your fundraisers are in the Dupontr Circle area. Your group may be young, wealthy, never married, and pretty - but there may be a fag or two at Dupont so that would keep some of the other memebers of FXU away

The Junior League almost got the USA nuked, and the Madisons were sitting on classrooms on 9/11? I guess seven years ago almost all of them would have been in classrooms so I can kind of see the analogy.

It is limited to 100 members at any given time. There are a lot of social events and one can assume numbers are based on fire codes or space at venues as well as current connections :

Have you attended any Madison events in the past year? If so, which ones? (Please indicate below)
Spring Fever Party at Third Edition’s Tiki Bar ______
Courage Cup Madison Tent ______
MadiSCENE Hollywood Glam at Play ______
Shopping and Cocktails at Intermix ______
Recruitment Reception at City Tavern Club ______
Madisons and Mistletoe ______
Thursday night fundraisers at Smith Point (if so, how many?)

It's like a sorority.

Katherine Kennedy ands Krista Johnson, both Madisons, according to this morning's paper, signed on for a reality series for Lifetime. Here is the Reuters link.

I assume they will be filmed bopping all over town at various charity/drinking events. How many times will we see Gravis, and Alias on TV at one of these soirées?

As a very attractive woman once said to me about the TV show "Sex in the City" "we handed you on a silver platter all the secrets of what women want, and these idiot men wouldn't even watch it and take notes."

Or as the greaseman used to say, "More men get hobble as a result of reading Cosmo than Playboy."

Take FFXU, here I am doing a public good, I am point out where there is a gaggle, of chicks that drink heavily. Now, I could have directed FFXU to "Late Night Shots" and be done with it, but no! I went the extra 10 miles and pointed out to the FFXU men, a coven of 100, 20 something, single, wealthy chicks, and where they are and when they are, drunk. All you single men out there should be thanking me for doing a public good and letting you know who, where, when, and why, when it involves drunk blonde chicks.

The amount of beer these girls would need to sleep with me would probably lead to alcohol poisoning first. That, and my wife would keep the house and kid and I'd get the bills. I guess that'd be a bad idea.

Alias, in order to get into the Cosmos Club, you need to be "recognized as distinguished in a learned profession or in public service." Does the bimonthly Madison's "Smith Point" Fundraiser for Susan G. Komen, allow the Madisons to be recognized as distinguished in public service?

Some would argue "yes," for the entertainment value alone.

I also know several of the Madison ladies. The ones that I know are bright, intelligent, successful women that tend to be involved with multiple charities. Don't post rude comments on an internet board about an organization you know nothing about. You remind me of the kids that didn't get bids to fraternities/sororities in college, then spent the next four years slandering them.

I am also a democrat.

I am also a successful attorney.

I party very little.

I am not, nor do I plan to become, anyone's trophy wife.

I find it very small minded -- and pathetic -- to judge a group of people you know nothing about. It's petty and ignorant, and it smacks of jealousy. If you find us as frivolous and offensive as you claim, then why are you wasting your time writing about us?

The Madison organization raised over $20,000+ this year for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. For an organization that is only 5 years old, that is amazing. I expect that figure to grow every year. As for the requirements to be a Madison, if you are going to keep an organization to a 100 women with common interest you have to limit it somehow and I have a feeling that no matter what restrictions the founders had come up with, someone would be offended or complain (usually those who are excluded). Many women are over 30 and/or married that are still active members of the Madison (contrary to popular belief they do not kick you out once you turn 30 or get married). The Junior League is a great organization and many of the women who are Madisons are also Junior Leaguers. The organizations are not copies of one another nor did the founders of the Madison intend it to be, they offer very different things for young women. Well I hope this has helped clear up some misinformation, of course I am sure someone will also have something negative to say about what I have written, but I encourage those who seek facts to check out www.madisondc.info for more information about the organization. One can also reach out to any board member for questions. Tell your friend who wants to join good luck, its a great organization to be a part of and I have met some great women being a Madison.

You just give the impression that those who are over 30 and/or have at one time in their life been married, are not welcome. Sorry, but your own website says do not bother applying if you are planning on getting married or having a couple birthdays.

Here are the own Madison's words...

To apply to be a member of the Madison, members must:

* Possess a college degree
* Be between the ages of 21 and 30
* Live in the D.C. or the surrounding area
* Have never been married

Your website says "members must:" not "applicants must:"

But in any event, tell Windy, Katelynn, Bambi, Pepper, Blair, Ashley, Bo, Ashley, and Ashley we at Fairfax Underground said Hi. Tell us when your next mixer is... Maybe we could have a joint Madison Mixer/Fairfax Underground Summit?

Perhaps the single guys at Fairfax U should plan on attending the event described as "December 12 - Madisons and Mistletoe—Kick-off the holiday season with live music, drinks, and dancing at the City Museum!"

Think about it - Madisons, Mistletoe and Alcohol. A good time will be had by all!

It depends on Spunky's dress size, how much she drinks, and her father's income. Also, Anyone who attended the Madison event at Smith Point with Mark Cuban saw first hand how poorly behaved these women can be around single, wealthy men. I understand it was an embarrassment.

However, we did like Dustee.

Lets see, $20,000 for SGK this year ÷ 100 Madisons = $200.00 per Madison.

How exactly is that "amazing?"

No shit. That crazy kook is all over the map. The eskimoes would have shipped her out to sea on an iceburg.

I nominate forming a group with the specific purpose of excluding Vince and Spunky from it.

I was responding to this post you morons. Don't you pay for anything
\other then hookers, like maybe attention to the threads you post to? You stupid
losers!

Ms. Mephisto...I told you to STOP PMing me, and whining to me about what I had to say to you about your pitiful game thread you over-sensitive whinier! You big baby! I can't stand you, nor can the mirror you look in every morning. Give us a break?

496...No matter what you say, it and you never make sense, so what's your point?
You wait until someone else has something to say so you finally have a chance to ride on their coat-tails...I know someone like you, he's a flaming fag of a neighbor of mine, who lies about everything and makes shit up in an effort to make himself look good...He still falls short, like you! Retard!

Meeper...I hear you stutter when you talk to Alias in person what kind of worthless, spineless example of a man are you? You couldn't even respond in words when I PM'ed you, were you stuttering then too? I wouldn't doubt it.

None of you are funny, and you all have said stupid stuff, do you think you have a patent on it?

All 3 of you are just a bunch of over-grown little babies! Do you hear me now?

Spunky needs to be bitch slapped by that country douchebag who sings that stupid punch line she includes in every one of her crazy threads.

FWIW, when she mentions that I couldn't respond to her in words, it's because she wrote a couple PM's to me, and my only response to all of them was "LOL", and then she finally just wrote to me and said "IS THAT ALL YOU'RE EVER GOING TO SAY TO ME???". It was sorta funny. Oh, and btw Spunky, I don't stutter, there's about a dozen people who post here that can tell you I speak normally in real life.

Man, Spunky was on a real tear last night. Can you imagine the scene going on in that household??

Do the Madisons allow hot illegal Latinas in their grouping? Bonus points if they are a Westfield or South Lakes alumna.

I am a new member in the Junior League of Washington. What should I expect? I heard it was very elite (snobby).

Not at all snobby, and they do real charity work. Have fun, meet some great women, and do your best.

You will not find one person that will argue against the fact that their club President drinks more than NE, SE, and SW DC combined.

You mean, how both of them started pointless illegal wars that went on for years for no reason other than political grandstanding that managed to get a large volume of lower class 18 year olds killed while fighting brown people?

My paternal grandfather worked in a foundry as a bench molder.

He finished eight years of school and when he came to the USA in 1911, he spoke no English. After he learned it, his speech was marked with an accent. Ditto for the woman he married.

I suppose that two of my nieces, headed for top schools after they graduate from Holton-Arms, might qualify for the Madisons.

I suspect they will not even consider applying. If they do, they will be ignoring the sage words of my father: DUKES AND QUEENS DO NOT MIGRATE.

Most of us (Native Americans and African Americans being exceptions) are here because someone did not like someplace else. There is no royalty in this country. Those who try to set themselves up in such fashion are deluding themselves. They are likely Botoxed bottle blondes.

Who would want to be around such snobs?
