Yankees Stadium

Thinking about taking the family on a road trip to NYC to see a Yankees game. Dont like the yankees but would like to see a game in that stadium before it is gone.
I have never been to NYC and was looking for advice on where to stay? Would probably want to check out some of the city for a few days. Any good hotels for a family with young kids (4-6 age range)?

One last question I forgot, best place to get tickets for a Yankees game. Scalping? (they are not playing anyone great the week we are planning for)

DO NOT wear a hat of an opposing team or you will be mercilessly heckled the entire time. I have family that live on Long Island. for a small fee I can hook you up with accomodations for the night then you can take the Long island Railroad into the city.

Check Orbitz for hotels. In any stadium, the first base line is usually a pretty good place to get tickets.
