It's precisely that ignorant mentality in the Redskins management under Snyder that is/has been the BIGGEST problem with the Redskins. And quite frankly, the problem with this country.

I've been one of the biggest critics of Snyder on here. I've said that I won't support the team until Snyder is gone and that no window dressing he comes up with will fix the situation.

My twinge of sympathy comes from the standpoint that the guy has attempted pretty much everything necessary to make the team a winner. His ego and interfering aside, no one can argue that Shanahan hasn't made a bigger cluster fuck of this team this year with no real rhyme or reason for his actions except to cover his son's ass.

His son does seem kind of overly defensive. But the worst thing Snyder can do for the 'TEAM' at this point IS INTERFERE. He will only throw salt on the wound and make EVERYTHING WORSE. And it's not like this sort of thing hasn't happened before. The little man NEVER LEARNS. Shanahan himself will figure things out a lot faster and more efficiently or it ain't gonna get done period. That's how it works. If it don't work and if Shanahan is a shiester, it's just a culmination of too many stupid business and political moves done over and over by Snyder over the years. He's a born loser ticket peddler.

I wonder how much of that is from things occurring that we know nothing about. Why bench McNabb for that two minute offense, did he really suck during practice? Fall asleep at meetings, ask dumb questions? What BS was being dictated by Danny, a la AH and other decisions made?

Agreed that bringing Kyle here was a dumb move, but I still think the problem is much bigger than Shanahan.

I still think Shanahan can develop a winning team, IF Snyder is not involved. Which means it probably won't happen.

The only productive thing Snyder could do is to pressure Shanahan into demoting Kyle to QB coach and hiring Kubiak as OC,,,

This probably could work because of Shanahan's previous relationship with Kubiak,
it wouldn't seem like a huge snub for Kyle

Plus if the Redskins get a new young QB Kyle's new job as QB coach would still seem important

What time is it? Time to get rid of Kyle,,,

Those decisions should MUST be the decision of the HEAD COACH, ALONE. PERIOD! The owner STAYS OUT OF IT! PERIOD!

When the owner gets involved, it scrambles up the power structure on the team; and then you have to start from ground zero AGAIN! And the retarded soap opera never ends. Because 'the real boss' is a total horses ASS. This shit goes on in business all the time. This is supposed to be the Redskins! Not the empire of some over-paid RUNT!

The only graceful transition is for Kyle to land as the Head Coach at Houston and for Kubiak to be the OC here. Shanny Sr. isn't going to demote his son. It's possible Kyle has a good enough relationship with the Houston ownership to end up there. Kubiak, though, might get a good looking over from Denver given the debacle McDaniels turned out to be.

Snyder seems to be a guy who likes to give people enough rope to hang themselves. He did it with Spurrier when he brought in all of those former Gators. He did it with Gibbs when he let him stick with Brunell for so long. And he is doing it with Shanahan.

Look at what Shanahan has brought to the team. Haslett and the worst Defense in the league. Kyle and one of the most mediocre Offenses in the League. And McNabb...a multiple Pro Bowler with one of the highest completion percentages in NFL history who looks worse than Jason Campbell.

Right now, Snyder is sitting in his chair with his Scotch, cigar and disgruntled players like Haynesworth and Portis thinking, "Hell, my decisions weren't as bad as this."

Guess what comes next?

Snyder's castration of Shanahan in an attempt to get Shanny to quit. First, Snyder will fuck over Haslett. Then he will fire Kyle. He'll force Shanny to hire players he doesn't want, etc.

You have seen this before. Snyder cuts Wuerffel without telling Spurrier first, knowing that would lead Spurrier to eventually throw in the towel. He takes play calling and OC duties away from Gibbs. By the end of Gibbs's tenure he was basically responsible only for calling time-outs (which he fucked up). And we all know what Snyder did to Zorn with the Bingo Caller last season.

Snyder may not fire Shanahan because of the contract. But he will fuck him over. Just watch.

And accurate. Shanahan is dealing with a guy who enjoys toying with people he controls. As long as Snyder signs the checks, Shanahan controls nothing. He's going to find out the hard way.

Wouldn't it be great if Snyder forces Shanny to quit and NOBODY is willing to take the head coaching job? All because of the debacle it's been over the years.

Don't forget, that's what happened when Zorn became head coach. Danny Boy fucked over Greg Williams and then hired all of the coordinators, etc, before he had a head coach lined up. It sounded like he had Jim Fassel BS'd into taking the job before the fans threw a shit-fit over it.

I don't think he will get Shanny to quit, but I do think he will make his time here miserable next season. Maybe not to the level of what he did to Zorn and Spurrier, but maybe along the lines of how he gradually stripped Gibbs of power.

The sad thing is there will always be a coach desperate enough to take a head coaching job with an NFL team, no matter how fucked up the organization is. You don't think Wade Philips would take the job?

Shanny Sr. coached for Al and failed. Not sure where in his mind he thought he could overcome another egocentric dick. The difference being Al Davis has managed to win Super Bowls while Danny Boy hasn't.

OK now yer talkin (not exactly completely accurate and not all true) but definitely pegging the real mindset of Snyder.

What happened with Gibbs, By the end of the second season, he and Bugel had the team turned around (offensive line playing like the Hogs of yesteryear). But, I believe, Gibbs got tired(old) and young grandson health in crisis, so he forego it all to Saunders (I think Gibbs was TIRED, it takes a lot of effort), the team lost it's mojo and took itself out of SuperBowl contention. It lost it long before Taylor was killed. Gibb's ment well, he doesn't have the energy anymore. But nothing can take away EVERYTHING he has done for the Redskins. Nobody dead or alive has ever done more.

Well, sadly, today is the end of the season for Redskins fans,,,

It wasn't a good year, but any sunday with football is better than one without it,,,
That said, I still don't want to see an 18 game season unless it's because of playoff games

This is the last week Dukes and Lavar, the junkies and everyone else in local sports talk radio will be able to fill their shows with anything remotely interesting,,,offseason makes 4 hours of talking about Haynesworth or McNabb seem fascinating

Hopefully we can end the season on a high note and crush the Giants,,,

If not, we'll get a better draft pick, it's a no lose situation

Well, those idiots on WJFK couldn't even make that interesting.

Regardless, the Skins have a way of making the off-season interesting. I think Haslett is going to be gone, which will create a lot to talk about. Then, there's going to be the fucked up personnel decisions. Finally, there are already rumors making their way out of Redskins Park that the two Shannies will be gone in the next few weeks, with Gruden coming in to work for Bruce Allen.

Snyder will figure out a way escalate this circus in the off-season...guaranteed.

I got to admit, if the Shanahans got fired and Gruden got hired, that would make up for the last three years

That would create the most excitement in the organization since Snyder bought the team,,,,

Super Bowl predictions would run wild,,,

And then next season we'd win 5 games

It's being reported that Gary Kubiak WILL NOT be fired as coach of the Texans,,,

That was really the only hope to quickly fix the OC issue and push Kyle out,,,

I will now embrace the Gruden rumour until it too is dashed,,,

I will say this though, it would probably be cheaper/easier to get rid of the coaching staff than to dump Haynesworth, McNabb and change all the defensive personel to fit the 3-4

Gruden won a Superbowl with the team that Dungy built and they went further downhill every season with him every year after that. What makes you think that he can build a winner here?

I have to wonder if we have seen the last game of the Grossman era in Washington,,,

He definitely played better than McNabb, but I don't think you can build your team around him

I would have liked to see him play a few more games, but I think he's good enough to be a bridge to a younger QB if we get one in the draft, and he would be a above average back-up

I think we found a few players that are keepers, and I think we can get rid of more than a few aging under-performing veterans

The only thing left to worry about now is the draft

#1) Carolina (2-14)

2) Buffalo (4-12)

3) Cinn. (4-12)

4) Denver (4-12)

5) Arizona (5-11)

6) Cleveland (5-11)

7-15) Order??? If Seattle loses there will be 8 teams with 6-10 records

Huge difference in the player you might get at 7 versus 15 esp. at the QB position

EDIT: OK Seattle won so 14 is as low as the Redskins will pick

I forget where I heard this stat - I may have been on Mike and Mike before the 2010 draft, but basically the odds of getting a great/franchise quarterback in the 1st round is less than 50%. For every Sam Bradford, you have 1.25 Alex Smiths.

You gotta be a Genius to 'recognize' the Johnny Unitases and Ben Rothlessburgers out there. And they're out there, you just can't be a typical moron about it.

It has nothing to do with genius. How the fuck did all of the geniuses miss Tom Brady? It's luck, pure and simple. You really don't know which QB's have the mental and physical capacity to play the pro game until you stick them in a pro game.

There are times when a college QB is an obvious NFL player (rare) and then there are guys who fit the part and seem like they could be a franchise QB,,,,,but in the end aren't

Some guys are overall #1 because the appear to be the best of a weak class of college QB's,,,Jamarcus Russell,Alex Smith,David Carr,,,no one was that excited about those QB's

Luck looks like an NFL QB,,,none of the other BIG names do,,but they may be (doubt it)

I honestly think the kid from Nevada looked good this season,,,he might be this years sleeper

BULLSHIT!!! Fuck Chucky!!! He won 1 Super Bowl with Dungy's team. Stick with Shanahan unless he can be replaced with Tony Dungy. Fuck Grudin! He's just a hotheaded LOSER, just like Snyder. . Do like soap operas more than winning football games?

I agree that Chucky would be problematic in DC. He kind of made a mess of the Bucs after they won the Super Bowl. Remember the QB carousel? Remember the drama with Keyshawn Johnson? Or how he almost ruined Cadillac Williams' career by running him into the ground?

The Skins have enough drama with Snyder without bringing Chucky into it.

This article nails it. Shanahan not only didn't win (which probably shouldn't have been expected in his first year). He also didn't rebuild.

http://dc.sbnation.com/washington-redskins/2011/1/5/1915666/mike-shanahan-redskins-coach-first-season-first-season-recap

A bunch of drama for nothing, really.

Good article, I wonder if the Bears would have gone 15-1 and won the Super Bowl if Mike Ditka would have been taping Buddy Ryan 24-7. LMAO That would have been interesting. The dynamics that is.

Vince Young is not the next Steve McNair. He's the next Dante Culpepper.

Does that mean he will be worth only $10M a year to Danny, instead of $18M ?

Andrew Luck announced today he's staying at Stanford,,,,Jimmy Clausen is the only person that's happy about that

I really have no idea who would be worth the over-all #1 now,,,

The player Carolina needs is Green (WR) from Georgia,,, but overall #1?

The Redskins better put away QB draft fantasies and focus on defense, this draft is talent-rich with defensive players esp. DL, LB,& CB if you have a top 10 pick

I think Luck is an idiot for not coming out,,, Hey Andrew call Matt Linert and find out how that can work out,

or Colt Brennen, from 1st round lock to end of draft after thought because of one bad game against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl

That, and Colt Brennen had shitty throwing mechanics. He's basically a practice squad guy now. No NFL team would do that to a guy with legit talent, no matter how he did in the Sugar Bowl.

After Colt's record smashing junior season he was a sure fire 1st rounder

He had June Jones out there touting him as a legitimate NFL QB who, unlike Leinart
could hit the deep out,,,

Lots of guys coming out of college have suspect throwing mechanics

After the Sugar bowl everyone started writing off Colt saying he couldn't play against top talent

Whether it was true or not, that game made Colt's stock plummet

The point is if your Andrew Luck and you'd be the #1 pick, your stock can only go down or at best stay the same,,, one game can change your life, a bad injury being the most likely way

I don't think the Redskin's will draft a QB in the draft so,,,,

Who would you rather have at QB next season, Rex Grossman, Kyle Orton or Vince Young?

The team is such a fucking mess, Jason Campbell could be the QB next season.

Shanny Jr. loves Grossman, but I still think he wasn't significantly better than McNabb. Vince Young is a train wreck mentally. I have no idea where he might go to be successful, but I guarantee it's not DC. Kyle Orton is boring but consistently solid. I would be all for Orton, but Danny Boy is a star fucker who wants to sell jerseys, and no one is going to line up to buy an Orton jersey.

No, I think the Skins will end up with Cam Newton or Mallett and they will go the way of Patrick Ramsey and Jason Campbell under this regime.

Patrick Ramsey. What a waste of talent that was. Speaking of which, you need to drop that mugshot (IN~YOUR~FACEY) picture signature-thingy. It's disturbing. Especially since he hasn't seen his Mom in so long.

One good thing about this weak QB class in the draft and the lack of quality free agent QBs is that Donovan's trade value seems to be rising,,,everry time someone mentions a teams need for a QB McNabb's name gets thrown in there,,

Miami,Carolina,Tennessee,Arizona,Minnesota,San Francisco,Seattle,,, all are possible landing spots for McNabb according to the talking heads

If your willing to burn the 10th pick in the draft on a QB, I say send it to Philly and get Kolb if we can,,,

I don't think Reid will want to send Kolb here, but the 10th pick would be hard to pass up

At least we have an idea what Kolb can do,and he's only 26.

That said, I don't like the the Eagles having 2 1st rounders.

That could dramatically improve their team.

I would not be in favor of signing Vick as a free agent, it just wouldn't work, and it would be another in a long line of overpaid veteran players

It's just bad karma

Redskins fans can take some small amount of pride in the fact that they beat both teams in the NFC Championship game,,,,

Maybe we're not as far from being a decent team as we thought,,,,,

Maybe Shanahan wasn't BS'ing us after all,,,

Maybe,,,I'll have another beer,,,,,and cry in it
