Me, too. Would be nice to have fresh White Castle burgers instead of the frozen variety from the grocery. However, a good substitute is the mini-burger basket at Silver Diner. :)

Hole in the wall, greasy spoon, cheap, hits the spot...that kinda describes the type of taqueria I'm looking for. :)

Oh yeah, Taco Bell...burgers...anything like that hits the spot after drinking. And speaking of burgers...what's this about White Castle in Georgetown? Do you mean actually at a White Castle, or just White Castle-like mini-burgers at a local pub?

Thanks for the tips. :) I'll have to check those out. One of my favorite places back home was a family-owned place with a huge menu that did Jalisco-style cooking. Yum!

You know there's something to that...operating a computer with one's mind...just saw that one of the science magazines this month has an article out about technology someone's working on that allows paralyzed individuals operate a computer with their thoughts...and by that I mean they learn to think certain things that makes different portions of their brains fire, and then the resulting bio-elec

Always nice when you have the inside scoop on whether a company's good or not, unlike me, who moved across the country to work with lunatics. Or, well, half of them are lunatics. Fortunately, there are other things about the job and life that balance that out.

Actually, spent less than two grand, and you know, no computer's perfect, but I've had a lot less problems with my Mac at home than most of the PC systems...well, I should say PCs are not the problem, it's certain Windows operating systems that are the problem...with crashing, especially when running certain pagination/graphics software. And being that crashes are what annoy me the most with comp

And then, there are those of us who use Macs. I know, everybody groan and get it over with...every IT guy I've ever worked with has. Nevertheless, I still love my Mac system. Not saying it's better than anything else, just that it works for me.

Stinkypoon, love your idea. Much as I like kids, I get tired of when they're allowed to run wild and not pay attention and I'm having to dodge them. Fuck it, they can just run into me and fall down, too. Either that or I swear I'm gonna start saying what I think half the time I'm trying to get somewhere and there's a kid underfoot: "EXCUSE ME! Would the parent(s) of this child like to come ge

WashingToneLocian- About small towns sucking ass...yeah I grew up in one that was...if you can imagine...that was a mix of suburbia and a farm town. A lot of narrow-minded peeps, not nasty mean, just stupid. It sucked ass for its lameness and the limited experiences of some of the people there...the types who can't see the big picture and can't think outside the box. Since then I've lived in a

Yeah, it depends on what you get at Baja. I tend to go for their burritos with the mesquite-grilled chicken in them...and nachos...which are tasty because damn near everything in nachos is full of fat...and I like their guac, too, and some of their salsas. And of course now that I'm thinking of nachos, I just remembered the ones I could get at taquerias back home...$5 for a huge plate of 'em (the

Lots of good insights. Thanks! I've wondered about the uncontrolled development here and population density plus that baby boomer/me-me-me attitude described here, plus the soccer mom scenario where folks have lost touch with what's going on around them because they're spending more time interfacing with technology (e.g. cell phones) and not real people. Plus I wonder, too, about stress from jobs

What is it with the metro area that makes some people around here such nasty, psycho motherfuckers? Like not just rude or arrogant but outright mean and aggressive, like rude on steroids... Not everyone's like that, thankfully, but the ones who are are so extreme it's shocking. I go outside of the area, and it's not so bad, so it keeps me wondering what the deal is around here. I'm curious if an

For really awesome Mexican food, you have to go to the West Coast...the little mom-and-pop, whole-in-the-wall taquerias in Oregon and Cali. Here most of it is Tex-Mex or some other fusion. Baja Fresh is pretty good...close to the higher end Mexian grill restaurants I got back in Oregon...good mesquite flavors. Chevy's is more like most of the family dining style Mexican restaurants out West. The

"The people reek and you can barely find a place to stand." LOL Dude, that sounds like afternoon rush hour on Metro, especially on a 90-degree day.

Man-flan? Puh-leeeeeeez. A little respect for the divine cuisine and for the gourmands who appreciate it. Or if you're gonna go there, do so with flair, creativity. Man-flan sounds so bland...like store-brand, generic custard mix. Try: Creme ballee Pot au cum Meanwhile, you should watch what you say to us grrls...we might just go put our Docs on and start stomping your nads. Besides I can't

Thanks for this link. I haven't made it to Anita's yet, so this is helpful. Meanwhile, I have tried Mexicali Blues and Guajillo (sp?) in Arlington. Both pretty good. Good fish tacos and juana tamales at MB. Pretty good Oaxacan mole at Guajillo...but there chocolate flan with tequila sauce is OUT OF THIS WORLD AWESOME. And I'm really picky about my flan...none of that chewy, mass produced, Jell-o

Anyone know of any good taquerias or family-style Mexican restaurants (e.g. Jalisco style) in Fairfax County? I just moved from the West Coast, and so far the only purported Mexican food I've found turns out to be Tex-Mex. Uhhhh, no. Grrl needs some fresh homemade tortillas con maza and con harina...pollo en mole...birria...salsa fresca...flan...I have such a craving, damnit! (Meanwhile, might I

OMG, the conversation here is just killin' me...about dumb managers and the admonitionments over the license. 'Course I knew it would be good when I came across "Cox sucks"...yeah, no kidding. Could they nickel and dime you more for their bundled services?! "Bundling saves you soooo much money"; yeah, right, it saves you money on more premium packages...if you could afford those in the first plac
