@ James - so much for your "public records" hogwash. Death certificates in Va are private for 50 years, unless you are a qualifying relative. See Va Dept of Health: "Birth records are public information 100 years after the date of the event; death, marriage, and divorce records, 50 years after the event. Vital Records are available to immediate family members only- mother, father, husband, wife

The medical examiner will probably share the preliminary result with the family today or tomorrow. The final report will not be available for 6-8 weeks, since toxicology takes awhile. Recently went through this with a dear friend whose son died as the result of an accident here in Fairfax. The info was not publicly released, even tho the deceased was a young adult. Info regarding a minor ma

this is one of two threads regarding this young man that were apparently started by Carol43257. Multiple threads seem to always result in confusion. Could we please consider this one closed and confine posting to the other one at this url: http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/2/1015684/1017196.html#msg-1017196 Perhaps that would make discussion easier to manage? Respectfully, Ray

Dear Fairfax Father, As a parent, I share your sense of empathy for this young man's family. Horrible enough to spend a week wondering where your child is, devastating to wind up as this situation seems to have. While Fairfax Underground exists as a resource to share community news & info (i.e. why was route XXX so backed up today, darn it!?!) and provide a discussion forum for such things,

I am baffled as to why all this heat is directed at Gordon Blvd in this thread. The Fairfax General forum exists for the discussion of concerns in this community, and GB has as much right as anybody to weigh in, as well as a long history as a poster who makes valuable contributions. Anybody with a problem with that isn't being forced to read this board, so get over it or look elsewhere. My gue

One more time, Rev: Shut it. If you need spiritual counseling, go to your nearest church/synagogue. FFXU ain't the place for that. And if you don't recognize the traditional formula of prayer for consolation of mourners, don't blame me. You are spiritually illiterate. Deal with that! Ray

@ Kardinal - I'm thinking that if it were my kid, I'd want every possible effort taken, which I think you were getting at as well. What I was trying to say was that it seems to me that FCPD maybe didn't do their best, but at least here we have reason to have high expectations. A family in a more rural area, with a less well equipt & trained police force wouldn't even have a prayer! I think

@ Mom - there is literacy tutoring available thru FCPS adult ed. If you can struggle past 5th grade level, they'll even help you get a GED, but in your case, it might take a couple decades. Patience is a virtue.

@ soul-seacher: sometimes those who are suicidal give no clues at all. Unfair to the grieving parents to assume that this one was sending up smoke signals - it just doesn't always happen that way. The family will probably blame itself from here to eternity for missing signs that may not have been visible. Been there, done that, wearing a very sad t-shirt! I'll say it again: this family has

@ jd - He's a minor, so autopsy results may not be made public. Even with an adult, med examiner doesn't always release the info. Also, sounds like FCPD did not cover itself in glory with this one. That said, how much worse would a similar situation be in Back-of-Beyond, Anywhere, USA?

@ kenz - It was in the report on WUSA9. I won't dignify Peggy Fox by posting a link. She quotes an "anonymous police source" to imply that the family was at fault, and irresponsibly tweeted that this was a suicide, which is not yet confirmed. Google it if you want. Otherwise, look at WTOP or NBC4 for a more professional kind of reporting on the story.

Turns out, a local adolescent scientist was responsible - same kid who mooned Silverbrook Rd the night before he started kindergarten! Gotta love life in the 22039! Ray

@ The Northman - +1 to what you said Gordon is most definately not a troll. Not always right, but at least has the guts to use a registered moniker & stand behind what she says. Note that her critics are not using registered accounts and so can pile on without being accountable. Further, speculation about an unconfirmed suicide & about stress in the home really sucks. Don't we have P

@ Kardinal - agree about Peggy Fox's tweet. Stopped watching WUSA years ago because she seemed so unprofessional - rubbed me the wrong way from the start.

So sad. Feel terrible for the family. BTW, it was reported last week that the donuts seemed odd to friends & fam because he was known not to prefer sweets. This stuff about him not being allowed donuts is probably a misunderstanding of that.

No, actually it was a compliment. GB often adds a lot to any discussion - a depth on knowledge about Fairfax history and a witty turn of phrase. Don't always agree with GB, but I was concerned when, after the outage GB wasn't heard from for a while (that I noticed, anyway.) Would have been a shame to have lost a good contributor. Ray

Almost spilled my coffee, kids came running out of their rooms. Anybody else hear this? Maybe a blown transformer? Unlikely to be a firecracker, since it was raining steadily. Curious, since there didn't seem to be any trucks around the neighborhood to produce a backfire.

I have framed print that is about 30" square. The glass in the frame is cracked & needs to be replaced. Any recommendations appreciated - Burke/Springfield is closest to me, but any ideas welcome Thanks Ray
