Allbeit...this is a historical election...puching politics in the classroom is wrong. The kids do bring it (even in elementary school), by repeating what they have heard their parents or others say. Teachers should not show the way they are leaning in the classroom, as everybody's situation is different, as would the way their parents' lean. Children, although, need to know the election process

McNair currently a mess relative to those schools around it. The logical redistrict for Coppermine would doom them to the same fate from the start. As much as I blamed the school board for last year, I blame the county for this - they planned to have all MULTI-FAMILY housing in those areas. What did they think was likely to happen to schools. The SB is going to do the best they can to balance tha

Must? It is not a joke. Schools affected must provide teachers to the new school.

Because McNair opened in 2001 at the beginnings of the real estate boom. McNair doesn't have under-enrollment because modular building have been placed for 5th and 6th grades. McNair Elementary had trailers the second year they were open. They have over 900 students this year. I'm not sure what issue you are arguing here. Reston is an older community. They've raised their children. McNair is cu

Who can say what children educated totally at McNair can do? Those children will move to high school at the end of this school year. McNair is Title I, and so it goes they have a high attendance of students in Free and Reduced lunch and children where English is a second language. Frankly, I find most of this banter against the less fortunate. I think it says a lot about most of the people here

There is nothing wrong with it, but Fairfax County turned that decision over to the school board.

What is wrong with Fairfax County Public Schools? Chances are...your children will fair better than most of you did, as you've all complained about checking the schools your children would attend when you moved here. Honestly, comparing the DC public school system to the Fairfax County Public School System is not fair.

This fight is still ugly at best. Yes the school board has the right to do what they are doing....they were given that right in a vote in Fairfax County. If you bought your house after that...sorry. Your children are all students of Fairfax County (one of the best school systems in the country), no matter their ethnicity. Something, I bet many of you did not have. I still see people attacking c

I'm tired of Floris claiming they are under the gun here. I'm tired of Fox Mill and Floris thinking they are better than McNair. Give it a rest. Our elementary, middle and high school has changed since I have lived here...please explain all your changes. We get another one in 2009. We get it...you don't want to move with us. Evidently, we've already filled your schools to capacity, because they a

I have no doubt. Yet the rest of us are left here to fight for what we believe. Trust me the school board has already made up their mind. Re: high school redistricting Posted by: quantum (IP Logged) Date: December 28, 2007 08:19AM Voice of Reason - you make a number of excellent points, among them that no one should have a hard and fast reliance interest in any one school in Fairfax County given that it is a large government entity and their is an assumption of risk assumed when one purchases a home here that school boundaries m

This thread is a hard read, at best! Those of you that bought where you did for the schools your children do or will attend should have looked into the fact that the Fairfax County School Board has every right to make the boundary changes they are making. You can argue that the value of your home is going to plummet because of the changes, but that would be a hard sell in a downward spiraling rea
