Why do I even bother to separate my recyclables from my regular trash when half of the time Fairfax County trash pickup dumps both of my cans into the same truck? Sometimes it's the recycle truck and sometimes it's the regular trash truck.

I couldn't agree more. I could, however, add more to your list of grievances. People who live here really think they are special. I laugh at them every time I drive through and see their houses crumbling to the ground. This place has been inundated with self-serving, impatient, sue-happy dip shits. There's no such thing as a good neighbor around here anymore. When I was growing up, everybody in the neighborhoods knew each other. We all looked out for each other and had fun together. Not anymore. Fairfax sucks.

I've lived here, in Northern Virginia, my entire life. I started out in Hideaway Park in Fairfax County in the 60s, I migrated to a house in Mosby Woods in Fairfax City in the early 70s, then to a different house in Mosby Woods in Fairfax County in the late 70s, staying there until the mid-80s, then to just south of Herndon in Fairfax County for a couple of years. Later, I moved out of Fairfax

The original building on the lot on the corner of 123 & 50/29, beside Ranch House, was a Quarles fuel depot. It was not a gas station, rather a very small fuel storage and distribution point for Quarles. The nick name of the Ranch House next door was "Roach Coach." Does anybody remember "The Big House," a flop house behind Ranch House where several people lived? You could always count on t

Berry Paving and concrete will do small jobs (I think without a minimum), and they will be able to help you out with your questions. Their number is (703) 550-0036. I've had them do a couple of small jobs for me -- two slabs for two 8'x10'sheds at different times and two driveway enlargements and an apron enlargement -- the apron was done with one of the enlargements. I have also had them do

It depends on several factors. You can purchase a pressure gauge with female hose threads at a hardware store or supply house and check the pressure at one of your hosebibs. A Plumber

As an additional note for those wondering why the year your house was built matters: Prior to 1974, new homes were not required by code to have a PRV installed unless the pressure was too high. After 1974, all new houses were supposed to have a PRV installed, regardless of what the street pressure was. Fairfax initially under-engineered the public water system, installing lines to suit what was

I have noticed many here have concerns of high water pressure in their home's potable water system. I have read where some have paid outlandish amounts for a new PRV -- a pressure regulating valve, commonly called a pressure reducing valve -- and I have always wondered if anybody served by Fairfax County Water Authority knows that they may be able to get the valve at no cost from the Water Autho

Saw a sign posted in front of a house on the 6500 block of Telegraph Road, near Rose Hill Drive. It reads: "To those who robbed us on Sunday: We have you on camera. Please return to receive your free bullets." I can't find anything online about what got stolen here or what the suspects might look like, but I hope the sign is true -- that they are on camera. Or, that they return to receive t

6X, Where did you hear the Zoning rumor? I have heard several other rumors: 1/ The landlord raised the rent to an unreasonable rate. 2/ The landlord kicked them out. 3/ The landlord would not renew the lease because he is going to sell the property. 4/ American Barbecue just decided they wanted to close this place down and reopen elsewhere.

In the early to mid 80s in Fairfax. An antenna was mounted on your house, bringing you only one channel. I remember real cable was on its way, but for most of Fairfax, this was the only option for soft porn sent to your tv late at night. What ever happened to Super TV? Were they bough out by the cable companies? Did they just fail? Do you remember it?
