Research supports the need for this change. It is not based on the wishes of a "small group", but on scientific studies that prove the benefits, including benefits to student athletes (improved sports performance). Places that have made the shift show increased or similar participation in sports and after-school activites. Two separate Task Forces in Fairfax have made the same recommendation
