The point is not whether low wage illegal aliens or higher wage unions are good or bad. It's that both are artificial intrusions into the labor market that prevent finding the balance of interests. I remember in 1995 when the school janitors in DC went on strike by parking buses across teh Roosevelt bridge. Backed up traffic forever in NoVa in every direction, took me 2-1/2 hours to get from Chantilly to Rosslyn. I'd love to have seen a time-lapse satellite sequence of how the traffic backed up.

The idea behind the law is a good one - protect emergency workers on the side of the road. The implementation by this trooper, however, appears to be off mark. Blind enforcement with no judgment - not a good thing. However, given the judgment of some troopers maybe not!
