So Chantilly high school sent along this attachment showing we're already presumptively opted in to having our children take a survey about their character strengths and weaknesses. Among these: VIA identifies one of the character strengths as 'spirituality' and 'transscendence', therefore, there are four questions that inquire about the importance of or belief in prayer, faith, or higher power

But Booster Enterprises made it easy. They put the password to their fundraising database - which holds information about children and their contributors - into a video which was found on

Do you mean what % of child-generated revenue goes to Boosterthon? Well first, it should bother people that parents such as yourself rarely know the answer to this question. This % should be made clear up front.

At loooong last, the revamped R1370 is published. Most notable, perhaps, is that fun runs need to be managed by the school, not school-supporting orgs (like PTA/Os), and funds need to be recorded through the local school activity fund (LSAF). See "Attachment A" in this attachment or at http://www.boarddocs.com/vsba/fairfax/Board.nsf/files/AP8LL3518FBC/$file/R1370%20.pdf

If anybody's got something to say to FCPS about R1370, NOW would be an excellent time to speak up. In the July 8th Superintendent’s Update, I'm told, there's a section section about updating fundraising regulations which tells of a meeting with about 50 stakeholders recently conducted. As a result of that meeting and other Emails received, a decision was made to create a task force. There are

rumor has it Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They are supposedly working on a new 1370 and finishing up soon........... R1102.9(III) reads, "Regulations are reviewed and updated every five years or sooner." So FCPS stands in violation of R1102 by 2-1/2 years. If FCPS requires us to abide by their regulations, then what kind of example does this set?

And what about the children? Without the FCPS-Booster contract in force for a PTA Boosterthon, what agreements are in place between FCPS and Booster to ensure their physical safety? FCPS's answer? There are none - we just let the principals and PTAs know about the noncontrolling(!) FCPS contract, hope that PTAs do something, and call it a day. This is a lawsuit just waiting to happen - defend
