Why is this town full of such white conservative pricks?

This town really is crap compared to other cities in this state, and just because you live here doesn't mean your high and mighty, it means you've been in centreville all your life and have done nothing with it so you stay here.

I'm not from here, but I brought my wealth here; wealth that my family gained from cotton and tobacco farms in the south. And thanks to your ancestors help

I think the white conservatives are easily the minority in Centreville when you factor in the illegal day-laborers who pool up in front of the Centreville library and then you add in the nearly 100% Asian businesses on the eastern side of Rt 28.

Oh, and as General Lee pointed out, Centreville is not a town. Further if you stay in Centreville your whole life (not that I have) but there's a good chance that you went to a good school (GMU, GW, Georgetown, William and Mary, UVA, VA Tech, and the like) and landed your self a good job.

You seem to forget that Centreville is a short commute from the most powerful city in the world.

You'd be surprised at the number of people who take the Metro bus to Vienna and ride the Orange line into DC. Additionally, there's a ton of DoD contractors throughout Fairlakes and Chantilly and into Loudon. Easy commute from Centreville.

Centreville is a 20 minute commute to DC, if your're driving in at 4:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning.

DC is a 25 min commute from the north end of Old Town. Anyone that thinks they can get from C'ville to DC in 20 is smoking crack.

My husband is an electrical engineer and I am a VP of Marketing. We live in Centreville and have been here for about 10 years. Our neighborhood is pretty nice, but we're thinking of buying a bigger house in Fairfax or Clifton. Centreville has million dollar and multi million dollar homes as well as townhouses, apartments, and lots of singles in the 550-750k range as well. The traffic has become worse since the housing boom. Fairfax County is a great place for work, but a lot of people here are very superficial and they are not grounded.

We had to move from Centreville a few years back after living there for longer than 10 years. Seeing the large population of illegals was horrible - especially when the ghetto apartments were still occupied across from the library. You'd see illegals buying cases of Corona on the weekends and walking home to their apartments, where they'd drink and hang out the window.

In the early-90s, Centreville was a great place to live and raise a family. Then, it started to get diverse really quick. Please keep in mind, I'm not opposing diversity. But, the quality and low education of the people and students really put a burden on the school system in that area. Plus, neighborhoods really started to decline with all of the rental properties, which were owned by landlords and then occupied by many individuals or families.

And, yes, Centreville can be a bit superficial at times - much like the rest of Northern Virginia. However, in Centreville, this can be especially true of the citizens of Virginia Run. They've always carried themselves with their noses up in the air. To me, this was a bit hard to understand because VA Run is an "aged" community - the houses are now well over 20 years old and some of the initial appeal of the community should have rubbed off, but apparently, it hasn't.

Me? I just wanted to be my old humble self. I've always wanted to work hard for me and my family. It just felt that when I was living in Centreville, my quality of life was slowly being taken away from me. The populations of illegals and other immigrants meant that the children and students would have their certain click groups. It was hard for many children to make friends. Once I (we) moved, those issues really disappeared and we were able to experience a quality of life that we hadn't felt in many years.

I understand there are alot of "grounded" people and cheap housing in Mississippi, might give it a shot, come on lady, people flock here for one reason and one reason only, money. They gont give a shit about their neighbors or anything else that doesnt directly benefit them. After living here all my life I really get tired hearing about how this area doesnt have this and that.If everybody who came here for their big salaried jobs would go back to NY, PA ,fill in the blank, it might return to being a nice place to live.

Anywho, I've actually noticed growing up here that the dividing lines between geographic red and blue generally start dark blue in DC itself, stay pretty dark blue in the 'immediate suburbs' like Arlington, Alexandria, East FAlls Church, etc.

and then they start becoming soft blue around tysons and into Annandale, becoming somewhat light blue around Fairfax City. These lines go (I think) almost neutral, leaning toward light blue around Fair Oaks, Centreville, Clifton, up into Reston/Herndon.

However, the colors begin shifting red when moving any further out - Manassas, Woodbridge, Front Royal, Gainesville, Leesburg, etc. So if you're planning on traveling to the more rural areas, expect conservatism to be strongest (just pack your mountain dew and ranch dressin' yall).
