Night Running -Safe area? NOVA

I live in Herndon and was wondering if there are any safe well lit places to run after dark? Tried to get to the track at Herndon HS early summer, and it was a maze of gates, fences and padlocks. I don't mind travelling like 10 miles or so.

Herndon Middle School has a crushed stone/gravel track that is not gated. There are lights, but I doubt they will be on unless there is a football or soccer team practicing in the field.

You might also check with Potomac River Running at Reston Town Center. They run track workouts and scheduled runs as part of the their training programs. The track workouts are usually at South Lakes HS. The other runs are usually on the W&OD.

I agree get a treadmill, it's dangerous in Herndon.
