I'm going to borrow the $141 for it on a 15 year so I can pay it off faster..
Maybe try to get 100% cash back at closing so I can buy some new plywood for the windows..

Mayor Bing wants to buy the remaining homes in these types of area where people still live. His theory is why maintain streets, sewer and electric when there may be just one person living in four square blocks. They would buy the home bulldoze the whole neighborhood and use it as farm land. No joke and I applaud him for at least trying to find a solution as opposed to some who just want to play the blame game.

I can see buying out a neighborhood to save on utility and emergency service expenses, but turning it to farmland sounds expensive. You'd have to rip up all the underground infrastructure, water, sewer, foundations, maybe electric and water wells.

Detroit should buy a tank and charge like $1,000 bucks for a half hour. You could roll over as many vacant homes as you want. I am sure the DOD has some for mothballing they would let go cheap. Its not like anyone is going to rehab the homes and they are going to be knocked down anyway.
