Summer Concert Season

Summer concert season is here. Anyone going to a particular show this year? Nissan Pavilion (to me it'll never be Jiffy Lube Live) seems to be the venue this year for rock concerts and country music. Merriweather Post seems to have more of the indie/alternative bands. Wolftrap seems have their usual eclectic mix of high brow shows/artists, classic rock bands, and miscellaneous. I laughed out loud when I saw this show scheduled for July 26 at Wolftrap:

The Legend of Zelda
Epic music comes to life in this all-new symphonic concert based on one of the gaming industry’s most enduring and beloved video games, The Legend of Zelda. Outstanding graphics on huge screens in-house and on the lawn highlight memorable moments from the game.

And FWIW, it's a shame that Nissan is the closest venue because I hate that place. Every year they do their damndest to keep patrons away - shitty acoustics, $13 beers, no tailgating, outrageous fees, etc., but people keep fucking going. Including myself if I want to see a band bad enough.

May go to Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper.

Rush in September..

I can't get too psyched for Slipknot,Slayer,311...

Cheap Trick does a good show but then you'd have to buy Aerosmith tickets too.

I'm headed to Wolf Trap in 2 weeks to catch "Get the Led Out". Yeah, they're a cover band but it's the closest one can get anymore to hearing real music. I'm also on board for Rush in September.

I saw a Zep cover band up at the State a few back and it was actually pretty fucking entertaining. All the Zep tunes and moves perfectly recreated and amplified.

Might see ya at the Trap.

I've got tickets in hand for Maiden and Rush. My neighbor has 4 freebies for Kiss and Motely Crue, so we'll probably hit that.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Summerland Tour at Wolftrap to relive some 90's memories, but I don't like any of the bands enough to actually shell out $50 or whatever it costs. Maybe for $20 I'd go.

There are lawn tickets for the Summerland tour for $25 I think. Some friends and I were talking about going.

Going to Iron Maiden and will probably go to Rush. Went to Rush last year for the first time and want to go again. Nissan is nice for me as I live right near by and can pre-party at my place with a cookout and stuff and in 15 minutes be parked in the parking lot there because I get there the "back" way.

Have not been yet but I've heard good things. We are having dinner there before the show and then have table seating. Looking forward to it.

Contemplating going to see Tangerine Dream up at The Howard Theater on the 8th, but it is a Sunday night and well, NE DC. Saw them twice before at the Lisner and the Kennedy Center Concert Hall years ago.

They have played "Loved by the sun" in recent times, so you never know. Kind of lost touch with their music after they started their own distribution. some of it I have heard I like and then some of it sucks balls. should look like this though.

I saw Tangerine Dream several times back in the 80s. I saw the Logos tour at the old Warner Theatre, The Tyger tour at the Kennedy Center and the Canyon Dreams tour at Lisner. I saw them another time, but can't remember which album they were touring.
