If I decide to jog on an athletic track that is divided into 8 lanes and jog on the 8th lane is every revolution more then 1/4 mile? Where is the 1/4 mile measure far out or closes in?

OK, thanks, so if I jog on the outside for say 2 miles. I have done substantially more. Got it.

Measure the distance from start point 1 to start point 8 and add onto the quarter mile and that should be the circumferance of outer lane. If you run 2 miles, multiply that difference by 4 and that is how much further then 2 miles you ran.
