I'm saying we can't start making apologies conditional. Our troops screwed up and burned some Qurans. I don't think it was intentional, but it happened. Instead of saying "sorry," Gingrich thinks we should respond by blowing more shit up. It's not worth it.

As Gingrich knows and as has been historically shown repeatedly with at LEAST this president, most of what the president does vis-a-vis international affairs - especially uber-sensitive ones like this - is done "privately", NOT in the Media.

They knew what would happen if the Moslems found them (in their own country yet) burning the religious book, they knew the Moslem mentality and how reactionary these folks are. It's not worth it. Obviously a riot killing hundreds wouldn't start if someone burned a bible but it does when you do a Koran. It shouldn't be that way but ultimately, it's usually the innocent who get hurt so it only flames the fire.

The best way to put out a fire is to stop feeding it and eventually it goes away.

I'm waiting for any Muslim govt to apologize for all (or any!) of the church burnings, Bible burnings, etc., done in the Muslim world since ... well, since EVER! I won't even count the synagogue/torah burnings.

If you want to burn a Koran, my suggestions: (1) Pay for the Koran yourself (used bookstores have copies for about 25¢) so nobody can say you stole and burned someone else's copy. (2) Burn it in YOUR fireplace or BBQ grill so nobody can say you endangered someone else's house with the fire. (3) Put the scorched Koran on a paper or foil plate and leave it where you want it found, so nobody can say you even vandalized someone's property with the soot and smudge. You burn your own property on your own property and you leave it neatly on someone else's property so it can be disposed of easily; who can complain?

That burning a Koran would be respectful. Better then tossing it in the trash. I mean what do we do with old flags, burn them, what do Christans do with old bibles or icons, burn them. even old photos (remember the "Grapes of Wrath" when the mother burnt the old pictures. This moslems are a bunch of babies, next time toss them in the dumpster GI.
