Nevertheless, pancreatic cancer is a death sentence, no matter how much money you have.

Pancreatic cancer is usually 6-months-and-you're-dead cancer. Jobs and Patrick Swayze both beat the odds in terms of living longer than usual.

Jobs was one of the most tech and business savvy dudes we'll see in our lifetime. But he was a long time Buddhist nad probably lived way outside mainstream thought as far as the healing and diet thing went. He ate only fish and spent a lot of time meditating.

I'm surprised he lived as ling as he did with liver concer.

The holistic medicine crowd is retarded at best I've ran into these freaks and their mode of operation is all the same.

1)Modern medicine is a scam

2)Drs. are in collusion with "big pharma" to make money on poisonous drugs that they know don't work.

This is laughable. I always ask them if that is the case why do Drs. I know use the same therapies and medicines on their own children? Always gets the dear in the headlights stare.

3) They are the only ones who have this secret knowledge and access to the purest and most effective herbs and supplements to treat any given illness.

#3 is hilarious because they all get their snake oil from the same online shysters. Magic wands, right spinning water, magic crystals, magnets, electromagnetic neutralizers, toxin removing foot pads you name it.

What surprises me is how many people I know that have fallen for this crap. In many cases we're not talking about dumb people.

It use to make me uncomfortable to tell people they are getting scammed but several years ago my neighbor in Missouri was scammed incrementally for over $200,000 dollars getting into business selling this crap.

When I told her she basically had a bunch of worthless inventory she flipped.
She later insisted that these stupid wands worked in conjunction with the power of the mind and suggestion. Of course when I asked her for scientific evidence she got mad again. I asked her how can you run down medicine that has been proven effective to some extent through controlled studies than offer none for your own?

Had he been able to get the tumor removed early, he probably would have recovered. He recovered briefly before discovering that the cancer had spread all over. The chemo and radiation had left him with no immune system or strength. He passed away right on schedule.

The chemo and radiation destroyed his body's ability to fight the cancer. In hindsight, he would have had an equally good chance at fighting the cancer had he gone the holistic or even American Indian route for treatment. Steve Jobs probably weighed the choices of Western medicine vs. alternative and flipped the coin to give his body a chance to fight the cancer, rather than flood it with poison and radiation in the hopes that it kills the cancer before the treatment kills him.

Well I think the problem here is that your body doesn't actually fight cancer itself

The body DOES detect and destroy cancer cells every day. The immune system does that. Neutrophils, especially! There are all kinds of stresses, including anxiety itself, that weakens the immune system. Acidic pH levels also invite the growth of cancer cells. It's a complex subject but, a healthy body does fight cancer. High stress levels trumped Steve Jobs's careful diet.

The old saying, "An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure." The body has a hard time fighting cancer once it gets established and the immune system is weakened anyway. All of this holistic stuff is as good as anything to maintain a strong immune system.

Immune systems take a beating with what we put in our bodies. America's food supply is contaminated with GMO grain products, highly processed foods, toxic sweeteners (aspertame and high fructose corn syrup), and pollution if the food comes from Mexico or China. The popular flu shots are more dangerous than helpful. They contain cancer causing ingredients. I understand the theory of vaccination and even prefer the old-fashioned way by skin pricking rather than injection. I have never liked the idea of bypassing the body's natural defenses in the vaccination treatment! China is rapidly becoming our biggest medicine supplier and I don't trust ANY pharmaceuticals coming out of China!

The post-industrial American Way of Life is what's killing us.
