Who spoke English like German in a comedy skit?

There was a comedy routine from, like, 50 to 70 years ago - maybe radio, maybe very early TV - where a well-known comedian demonstrated how English would sound if spoken like German (with trailing nouns or verbs or something) like:

"The man talking on the phone walked down the street"

as

"The man on the phone down the street talking walked"

or something like that (I'm obviously NOT a comedian...). Anyway, I looked into Danny Kaye (who I think is the one) and Victor Borge without success

Anyone got a clue from this vague description?

I'll check that out but I think it was someone a little more "highbrow" than that - both Kaye and Borge fit the mold.

[I didn't see this skit as it happened, of course, but in a recording shown much after-the-fact]

I think Moose is right, I know Sid Caesar could do that very well. Jerry Lewis also, but nothing like Caesar. Caesar actually used German sounding nonsense verse, not English though.
