"Chattle" is an old English word that means "property".
Commonly used to refer to someone enslaved.

Right, during the olden days, cattle was the what made a man wealthy, how many head of cattle you owned. You're property was cattle, it was written as chattel. Another fact, Fuck was a term also that got corrupted. In England if you were arrested for "Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" in when in the arrest log as f.U.C.K. hence the fuck. Get it.
