Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
I hated country because its what my parents liked growing up in the 70s. But naturally, we dont like what our parents like. Now that Im well into my 40s , it suddenly dawns on me what I was missing all these years. I never hated actual country music, I just hated the image of it. It wasnt "cool". But the actual music is pretty good.
Its also coherent and not laden with secrete messages or encrypted meanings like Trent Resnor of the Nine Inch Nails.
95% of the time i have no f'ing clue what the hell a pop, rap, hip hop, or rock song is talking about. The lyrics are pure nonsense yet those morons actually believe they are artistic geniuses.

Pop music is pretty direct. Even moreso than Country. I can tolerate some "Pop" music. But you know, Pop is short for "Popular", its not really necessarily a genre or style.
I grew up listen to R & R and Metal music, never thinking i would like country music? Now with Rap music and the Techno crap? Classic rock? We still listen to Tom Petty, and Steve Miller? The only real ass kickers i hear theses days are Godsmack, Metallica! But i do like the Country Girls though! The real ones, not Taylor Swift. Say an Alison Krauss or a Patty Loveless!!!

I'm full aware of that. However most pop singers are signed to be pop singers. There is specific formula to produce pop music, with beats and hooks cleverly placed.
Yes some songs are organically pop, though rare. Often a popular R&R song or country song are reworked to be a "Pop" song.
