Republicans Blocking FAA Bill costs exceed $1.2 Billion so
Posted by: KidsGetItDone ()

So while the Republicans try to union bust the Airlines and other union industries it has cost the US close to $608 million so far and could exceed $1.2 Billion.

Keep up the good work Republicans. All over if non-voting employees will be counted as "NO" votes for forming a union.

A "non" vote is not a YES, and it's not a NO. It's a "abstain."

I'll bet if Republicans being elected counted non-votes as NO votes Republicans would never make it into office.

Here you go.. A bit more Complete explanation of the issues.

Boehner to Dems: Either Cave, or No FAA Til September
http://transportationnation.org/2011/08/01/boehner-to-dems-either-cave-or-no-faa-til-september/
...To recap, the GOP-controlled House two weeks ago passed a temporary authorization extension for the FAA. But the bill included a tweak taking a bite out of federal subsidies for just a small handful of regional airports. Senate Democrats refused to swallow the bill, instead insisting on a “clean” extension. The FAA, and nearly 4,000 furloughed workers, have been sitting in the crossfire ever since....

Again, the Senate dodges the issue by doing nothing. The House passed a Bill, the Senate needs to either amend it and send it back, or ... complain.

...On Monday, Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-Va.), chairman of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, tried to clear a pair of FAA bills through the Senate. One was the “clean” extension Democrats have been bucking for, the other was a new package of about $71 million dollars in regional airport subsidy cuts, far larger than the cuts Republicans are pushing.

But GOP senators objected to both measures, extending the deadlock past the time when House members skipped town.

Asked Monday evening if there was a change of averting an FAA shutdown for the remainder of the summer, Boehner said, “That depends on the Senate.”

A Rockefeller spokesman said Monday that it was unclear whether jammed Senate Democrats would accede to the House FAA bill and reopen the agency.

Let be honest, the Republicans are blocking the bill to damage economy so they can say "Look what happened to the economy under Obama." Plus, they want to union bust.

Let's be honest, Harry Reid has not brought the bill up for consideration in the Senate - their job - to put in amendments if they want to make changes and send it back to the House. This falls squarely on Reid's head, just like the last debt ceiling bill did. The Republicans passed two bills out of the House - Reid should have brought them to the floor - offered amendments, changed the bill and sent it back to the House. THEN they could have met in conference to hammer out the issues and pass the thing. Instead he tabled both bills sent over and did NOTHING. So the only party of NO I am seeing right now - the lazy ass democrats in the Senate who only know how to stand in front of a microphone and demagogue - it appears they have no clue how to do their work anymore. If they had actually amended the bill and sent it back to the House, then they would have a leg to stand on.

If the Senate wanted the FAA open they would have signed the Republican-passed bill. The demokrats will stop at nothing to ruin this country. They have destroyed jobs, destroyed economic growth with their insistence on tax hikes through the roof and are now trying to eliminate all air travel. Republicans are terrorists according to Biden but it looks like the demokrats are trying to ground all aircraft like 9/11 through the legislative process.

Its amazing...Republicans must be in a near panic to be this obvious with their lies. Obama's economy was fine (not great) until he statrted compromising with the loony tea baggers.

I believe the folks who don't live in the 30 second soundbite world know exactly what is going on. Honestly, the MSM is showing how panicked it is by trying desperately to spin some good news for Obama and ... well it is hard when your argument is that the government really can't cut more than it did. In particular when Obama originally submitted a budget that would have continued to drastically increase spending and would have made the debt over 10 years $10T instead of the $7-8T it will be with the current spending in place.

Libs can live the fantasy as long as they want, but the folks in the middle are just as tired of large deficit spending as the conservatives are. So either the Democrats figure out how to get around fear mongering when it comes time to reform entitlements, or for sure a whole lot of the newly unemployed will be the Democratic losers in next year's elections.

No - I said that liberals stuck on the TPM line, or not paying attention to the news other than 30 second soundbites are ill informed and clearly not making decisions based on full knowledge. That the MSM works hard to reinforce that libtard fantasy is surely helping - the libtards. The folks in the middle are paying attention to the true details much more than last time now that Obama has been proven to be such a fraud.

Note that Harry Reid just announced they had a deal to finalize the FAA bill. The details on that will be interesting, and probably have little to do with the House making large sweeping changes to their original bill.

Except most the airlines decided to immediately raise their prices the exact amount of the tax.

Some of them are now offering refunds but you know how that goes.
