There are some websites that argue about the ugliest rock stars, so I thought we could have a go at it as well.

Here are some nominies.

Shane McGowan has looked like a homeless drug addict since the 80s.

I'll nominate Udo Dirkschneider from Accept. He was alwas pretty funny lookin. He probably the best metal name of all time though.

Dino and Merle were pretty crazy looking too. I know Merle is still alive but I am not sure about Dino Sex though.

The fat girl from Romeo Void, pretty sure she has been mentioned here.

The late Kevin DuBrow of Quiet Riot. Went bald and got a ridiculous hairpiece. He also ranked on my list of worst voices in rock. Hated the guy, he is lucky he died, I would have punched him on the spot if I ever ran into him.

I'll be surprised if anyone has heard of Peter French of Atomic Rooster, but he has to be one of the most hideous creeps outside a freakshow.I couldn't embed the video from Youtube but here's a screen shot.The video is worth seeing, the music is decent 70's blues rock and the guy looks like Austin Powers retarded and uglier brother.

Jim Dandy Mangrum of 70's southern rock band, Black Oak Arkansas.

These guys were 4 or 5 years before the time I started rocking, but they were a hugely popular touring band and were one of the feature acts at 1974's massive California Jam.

Van Halens David Lee Roth was a huge fan of the band. Van Halen used to do BOA covers and DLR has been accused of borrowing much of Jim Dandy's stage act.

Jim Dandy was to sing for Black Sabbath after Dio left, but was axed when Deep Purples Ian Gillan became available.

Tommy Aldridge was BOA's excellent drummer, later went on to play on Ozzy's Diary of a Madman. (Over the Mountain is one of his standout intros)

Rob Tyner from the MC5 was a strange looking dude. Granted, it was the sixties, but the big glasses and huge hair make him look like some androgynous freak. The rest of the band wasn't very photogenic either.

Weird glasses make me think of Burke Shelley bassist and vocalist of Budgie.

Looks like a complete degenerate, sings like Geddy Lee with a sore throat but has somehow made it work. Great power trio.

+1 on Steve Howe. He was always wierd-looking but when I saw recent pics of him I gasped at how much he has aged.

I was also going to mention Burke Shelley of Budgie. He pretty much looks the same today as he did in the early 70s.

LOL I think even Ozzy would say he's butt-ugly, but he's cool enough to get by. I read his recent autobiography and I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe. Just one fucked up rock star story after another, and it reads like the ghostwriter just wrote down exactly what Ozzy spoke into the voice recorder, you can almost even hear the accent.
