I can see where it was a close call. Facebook is definitely changing the way we use the Internet. What Assange is doing could change it, but it's still a bit too early to tell how.

I'm glad somebody other than Ass-Ange received this.

Zuckerberg deserved it, hugely influential on a lot of lives and the future of communications and web innovation.

I think Facebook will drop in popularity; the idea of putting your life online will become cliched and considered low rent, and people will look back regretfully at the amount of personal info they once disclosed to total strangers about themselves. Still you cannot dispute the genius and wide reach of this.

Assange is a close second. he is an important person, as anyone who does something as drastic and public has a certain amount of bravery however wrong and misguided I feel it is. I'm glad he didn't get it though. I think we're looking at 45 minutes of fame for him and it's done.

I bet no one here subscribes to Time. I don't. Who reads Time anymore?

I used to but stopped because it was so out of date by the time I received it. They tried to do more feature-type stuff, but that crap is usually boring.

Same here. I think I stopped back in the late 80's. I wonder how long it will be before the print news media is gone forever. I quit taking the WJS years ago and that was the last subscription of anything I had left.

With the iPad and Kindle the NY Times is trying a subscription model. I guess that could work for a handful of premier publications. But, yes, I expect a lot of print news media to fall by the wayside in the next decade.

I used to get the Post but I read it online at work so when I got home there was nothing there and it was out of date already since I'd been keeping up with the latest developments all day. It is nice to sit with a Sunday paper and some coffee though. Still even with that I can't remember the last time I bought one.

To be honest I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable subscription fee to get some publications online. It only seems fair. The Internet has spoiled us all.
