I grew up around alot of New Jersey transplants, and I think every single one of them worshipped Springsteen like he was some kind of Greek hero. I just don't get it. It was always time to leave the party whenever some half-drunk guido put on "Born to Run".

The same could be said of Bon Jovi. Doesn't matter what crappy music he releases, folks from Jersey will love it like it's the greatest music ever. Fuck "The Boss". And fuck Bon Jovi too.

(that being said, I know someone who was doing volunteer work for some charity organization. One of the other volunteers who showed up was Bruce Springsteen. My friend said he was a completely down-to-earth nice guy, and if you didn't recognize who he was, you would've thought he was just some regular guy from the neighborhood).

I'm not a fan of his music, but I can see how he appeals to people.

I dated a girl from New Jersey in college. Mentioning anything negative about Jon bon Jovi was sacrilege.

I'll admit,he has a few generic rockers that are all right I can jam "Prove it All Night" and I think "Born to Run" is a well written song.He's like John Cougar, he's not a bad songwriter and he's not untalented by any stretch. But I hate to see this jackass sliding around the stage with all his enthusiasm and gladhanding like he's James Brown or something.

Look at the asinine way this fucker behaves in this old video, "oh, I'm so spontaneous! I pluck a pretty girl from the audience and give her the privilege of dancing with ME!"

Overrated - yes...sucks no..he isn't my cup of tea but he's got a couple decent songs out there. To say he is the king of rock or whatever - in my eyes means you have a fairly limited viewpoint on what's good music but again...to each their own. Music is highly subjective really.

All those stupid heartland rockers can go to hell. Springsteen, Bob Seger, Tom Petty, Mellencamp, fuck all of them.

A whole floor? I was going to make a trip up to Cleveland a few years ago to see the hall of fame, but the more I hear of shit like that, I think I'd support true rock and roll better by spending the money at some local club.

Springsteen is one of these artists who has always had the music inteligentsia and critics on his side, and besides some of his dark albums about Nebraska or the Tom Joad shit, has always made pretty standard and shamelessly commercial rock (ie Glory Days, Born in the USA, Pink Cadillac, Hungry Heart etc)

This fucker looks really full of himself. I hope he gets busted for kiddie pron or animal cruelty or something that would leave him disgraced.

The only good thing to ever come from NJ was Debby Harry. Springsteen always came off as sounding fake to me. He has a terrible fake southern accent on many songs and he seems fake on stage.

It's possible that he's a nice guy, but I have to wonder if thats fake too.

I guess the difference is Harry and Sinatra got the fuck out of there as soon as they could while "The Boss" lives for the admiration of his fellow Jerseyans.

I have always hated this guy. Growing up near Philly meant putting up with this shitty music all the time. It's one of those memories from your youth that you bitterly try to suppress.

And I agree totally about the way this douchebag wears a guitar but doesn't play it, and when he does play it I don't even think it's running through an amp, it's just strumming to look cool. I think of all the truly great musicians who've played rock and roll over the years, guys like John Paul Jones, for instance, who is a complete professional, and master of several instruments and writer of much of Led Zeppelin's music. Springsteen doesn't compare.

I am sure Springsteens guitar is amped down too. The instrument is a prop to him. I could forgive him, but for all the ass-kissing the music press has given this creep for decades.

I think I saw Garth Brooks pull that stunt on TV once, another poser.

It was funny to see Springsteen at the Super Bowl because he made the effort to pick up a guiter (Telecaster I think) and strap it on and then not play a single note with it.

The garage rock stuff Seger did back in the 60s is decent, but I just think he's a douche because of shit like "Old Time Rock and Roll" and "Like a Rock". I don't care what his politics are, I really just can't stand that classic heartland roots-rock genre.

I definitely don't hate him as much as "The Boss" though.

You left out Daryl Hall and Bonnie Raitt.

Seger was OK in the 70's but got played out with the ballad shit.

I blame Tom Cruise for Old Time Rock n Roll. The stupid song was probably a throwaway track of album filler before Hollywood got to it.
