No actually they are signs at the "One Nation Rally" that no oneseemed to care about covering.

Offensive to call Obama, some of his policies or followers socialists, but goddamm.

"Who you calling socialist. socialist?"

I don't think anyone says there are no socialists, in fact there's one socialist senator. What they will say is the Obama administration policies, such as health care and the bailouts, are not terribly socialist, but in fact mainly market-based ideas for solving problems.

Key phrase "not terribly"...

I use that term because there are those that will take nearly any government program of any kind and claim it's socialist. I don't think they're socialist at all, and believe me most liberals agree and, in particular the health care bill, would have preferred a much more socialist program.

Interestingly, I think it was liberal colimnist Eugene Robinson that said calling Obama a socialist is "code for calling him the n-word". People cracked the Tea Party for accusing this admin of socialism, but in the same breath tried to imply the Tea Party was filled with racists and nazis. which is curious because naziism is a mix of the words National Socialist.

The Tea Partys were condemned as a whole for the few inflammatory signs and attitudes, while the media ignored the offensive rhetoric and widespread comparisons of Bush to Hitler during the anti-war rallies several years ago.

The Tea Partiers are a pain in the ass some ways, their rhetoric boring, but I think it's absolutely fucking obscene to tar this group of Americans as racists as the media did and as the dem leadership was willing to do as a political scare tactic.

Look up the definition of ( Democratic Party ) in the dictionary = one of two main political parties, considered to support social reform and strong federal powers.

That's funny, because the Democratic party was also known as the working man's party.

As we can see with the Obama-handout generation, times have 'change'd.

Well it's a lot like me saying "liberals" and Rush Limbaugh saying "liberals." We aren't saying the same thing. It's the same thing with "socialism." The word is meant to scare people and to give a different picture and a negative connotation of what the programs put forth by the Democratic Congress and administration are. Speaking specifically of health care, which many people consider "socialist," this program is not a Soviet-style program, it's not even close to European-style programs. It's as American a universal health care program as you can get, if you accept the notion that it's a good idea (or even just fair) that everyone be able to get the care they need, which most people do.

Tea Party Participation Up As Election Nears
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/october_2010/tea_party_participation_up_as_election_nears
...The Tea Party movement arose out of voter unhappiness with the growth of government and spending under the Bush and Obama administrations. Sixty-three percent (63%) of voters now say they are angry at the policies of the federal government, with 43% who are Very Angry. Thirty-two percent (32%) don’t share that anger, with 14% who are Not At All Angry. ..

The independents are angry also - for all the die hard Democrats who want to blame everyone else. The problem is what Obama and the Democrats in Congress have done. Period. It may have started under Bush, but the Democrats have managed to show folks who can really spend the money unchecked.

If you can’t model the past, where you know the answer pretty well, how can you model the future? - William Happer Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics Princeton University
