earthquakes continually occur on the two major fault lines which is Africa pushing down under europe.
just below turkey across the sea is Africa, the african plate is well known to "quickly on the move" north-east. infact one documentary says water is drying up in places due to massive geologic changes. (the landscape in those areas has shown marked visual change). most prominently, the Alpine Mountains (ie Switzerland's impassible border to Italy) are from the same massive continental plate motion. This large plate also hits India causing quakes.
Just East of Africa is a smaller plate having Madagascar on it - which is "moving at a rapid rate" more than anything around it that scientists newly have their eye on.
