My electric bill is usually 150 to 300 a month depending on the weather. How could it jump up to 700 all of a sudden? Dominion power said I should have a electrician check the circuits in the house and that is going to cost more money. Has anybody else had this happen??

You should check your thermostat and see if there's a blue light on or anything indicating emergency heating. If so, it's likely that a nigger stole your fuse and you are running on backup. Happens all the time.

If you got a electric water heater you probably got a grounded element. Get a new water heater if its a electric one.

If you live in Reston you most likely have a all electric house. The culprit is likely the water heater or the heat pump. Check to see if the heat pump unit outside is even running. You can call a good company like MR Stride to check it out.
