Well, what am I to do? It's bad enough that my one neighbor is a total ass clown who likes to crash his cars, and walk on roofs with chainsaws, but one of my other neighbors let's their children play in the streets, and tear the place up. Alright, so the latter folks are at least easy to talk to, and genuinely nice, and I like that aspect of them. However, just today, when my dog was being walked in our front yard, one of their idiot sons started acting like a complete fool.

Honestly, I originally thought that this kid was good, and given the fact that he has three dogs, and one of his dogs is real cool with mine, I figured that he knew how to handle canines and the like. Just yesterday afternoon though, while my dog was being walked, he skated by at a real fast speed with about five other kids. These kids were leaning on other peoples cars too, and blocking the street. My dog started barking at them, and then he came by and began taunting my dog from the sidewalk. All the while, his parents were standing only two houses down, and they did absolutely nothing to stop him from the taunting, OR from the taking up of the roadway. I seriously thought that this kid had lost his ever loving mind by the way he was acting, and there were his parents, completely oblivious to what their soon to be teenage son was doing not more than 100 feet away. It was damn stupid too, because aside from the fact that they could all be hit by a vehicle, my dog could have also caused severe injury to this idiot (It reminds me of the dumbass kids I grew up with, and how they would complain about a big dog around the corner biting them, but the part they left out is how they threw snowballs and objects at the dog beforehand).

If this sort of thing happens again, with his harassing my dog and the like, what should I do? I'm figuring that a trip to his parents should be in order above all else, to at least give them a chance to act on the issue before anything else.

Talk to the parents, give them the option of them raising their kid and teaching some manners or you'll have to find other means to rectify the situation.

This reminds me when a couple years ago I heard my dog yelping outside, so I look at my camera facing the front of the house and my neighbors(Africans/ Jamaicans) son was pointing a handheld GREEN Military grade laser at my dogs eyes trying to blind it. the pebble idea could work, you would need a bunch. my suggestion would be to talk to the kid (when your dog is not around) tell him straight up not to fuck with your dog, if he cant handle responsibility then go to the parents. going straight to the parents may encourage the kid to keep up his antics. i know when i was growing up and someone came to my parents because of something i did, i would always come back and do something twice as bad. so talk to the kid first, treat him like a person. if that doesnt work, and talking to the parents doesnt work, call the cops. or go to plan B, a 12ga shell filled with rock salt.

I would have, but I wasn't the one walking the dog. I saw it happening when I looked out the window. They're always taking up the damn roadway (We have a busy street), but this is the first time he skated up to my dog and started acting like he was daring her to bite him. I don't mind the kids playing in the neighborhood, because when I grew up here we had 30+ kids always running around. What I do mind is the carelessness and trouble making that these two particular groups take part in, especially when the other younger kids have to put up with the same nonsense.

Good thinking btw. I can also tell that this kid is going to be hell when he's only a few years older, because when he's with the usual "gang", he's starting to act like a complete dumbass. My sis used to babysit him years ago, and I thought he was alright, but he's been getting a real attitude lately. The worst part, is that he puts on this little act like he's all innocent and "cute", but whenever he's with the German kids down the block (And others) he's always the one doing the dirt.

Now I really don't question why someone took a baseball bat to his family's mailbox last Summer (Some kids from another neighborhood did it). Wait until he begins driving, I'll post a warning for everyone on FFU.

Oh and yeah, if you think this kid is bad, you should see this girl that lives up the street from me. She's a high school tramp now, but when she was only maybe about eight or so, she'd literally jump in front of passing cars to do the "Suck it" sign with her arms crossed, and sometimes she'd even flick people off and spit at them. In both of these cases (Her, and this latest kid), the parents are all hippies.
