Trump is going to have a difficult time if democrats actually vote in 2020. Even with only 20% of Democrats voting in 2016, Trump still lost the popular vote.

That might be true if there was a clear front runner in Iowa, but there wasn’t. None of these Dems were able to get a plurality of votes and I can’t see any that will be able to successfully tussle with Trump in the mid flinging war. The economy is “booming” too with a bunch of low wage jobs and I’m sure voters will worry about those drying up if Trump losses. Doubly so if Warren or Sanders win, but honestly if they do, the Republicans will only have themselves to blame.

The status quo will commence. Massive wars and a shitty economy. The stock market and housing market will crash and mass layoffs will occur, taxes will soar and businesses will flee.
Now, 2016 saw one of the highest voter turn outs in US history. The people who elected president Trump aren't a "base" as you call them and they aren't "GOP" as you call them. We are Americans who love our country and want every career politician to GET THE FUCK OUT and we want the people back in power. Yeah we're still waiting for that one elusive shred of evidence of any crime committed by Trump. All the most wealthy and powerful people on the planet have spent every day of the last 4 years desperately searching and even attempting to fabricate something that will stick. I'm sure the next hoax will be better. But then, everyone is already expecting another hoax soon.
