The Transportation Department’s report followed an 18-month audit and implicates the Federal Aviation Administration for allowing Southwest to “fly aircraft with unresolved safety concerns.”

(however - the agency has not cited in the news even a single example of a lapse they are are under concern. one maybe is that we know some airlines get maintenance done in mexico by (uncertified) mechanics by flying the planes into mexico - a job killer for americans)
