I guessed you were bitter because you opened this thread by slinging racial slurs. Personally the slurs don't bother me but they certainly set the bar pretty low and hence my crass response. If it were me personally, (and in the past it has been the case for me) I'd hate working for someone who is either less intelligent or unmotivated. This is not to say that government workers are unintelligent or unmotivated. But every sector and organization has folks who have quit their job but still show up to the office to collect a paycheck. If you work for someone like this you can try grin and bear it and tell yourself the paycheck is good, but for most people it will begin to grind them down. Besides, if licking the pink is what is keeping you happy, why do you care what I think about your math skills or programming prowess?
Since I already put my dick size out there, I'll tell you what I make. My total cash compensation in 2009 was $207,000. Add on top of that 401K and benefits and you wind up in the neighborhood of $225,000 total comp. My stock options and grants aren't worth shit in terms of any yearly income and probably wont ever amount to anything aside from a tax headache. Nice numbers however, I'll be the first to admit that I'm overcompensated. And when they show my ass the door, I'll be hard pressed to earn that amount again, at least not in this area. But when life shoves grapes in your mouth, eventually you gotta swallow a few, you know?
There's nothing wrong with developing and maintaining your technical skill set. The "plumbers" of the world will always have work and will probably always be highly compensated, as they should be. (Unless of course their commoditized skill set is outsourced to Chennai!) However, IMO, the ability to recruit and build a team and then direct that team to execute on a vision and get work done is where the baller money is at. It's also where I've found the most job satisfaction.
So, to answer your question in a straight manner, no, it doesn't bother me if Asians or Indians are better at math or programming than I. When I need a technician, I hire one and I try to hire teh very best I can afford. The difference between me and the average whitey is that I'm not afraid to at least try to hire someone better educated or smarter than I am. As huge as my ego is, it's not so fragile or intimidated by those who can keep up with me on an intellectual level. If anything, it's refreshing.

Thanks for the honesty. You had me beat at my last gig by about 10-15k. This new one pays quite a bit more (minus all the comps you stated, 401k etc.). And also, no it's not government. The racial crap was more tongue in cheek (as fitting for this board). I'm glad we can laugh at it. But most of the rest are true (preferring white women, etc.)

Definitely not cut out for management. I have no patience for whiners and excuses (I'm sure kids would train me real quick). I suspect that if I ever get tired of the hands on stuff in this field, I'll be delivering Winnebagos across country. I think I have an idea where you work. Not too many places pay that well in VA. you havent been looking everywhere. I see asian guy with black woman eating dinner together last week in Annadale. I like asian men as well. In Maryland there is an asian man black woman social group. Look it up on facebook. Love has no color lines.
