Agreed. I quit 5 years ago and hope never to go back to that kind of dependency ever again. Dont worry about stigma - get to a meeting there are dozens every day in our area. You can google for meetings in your zip code. Support from people who have successfully eliminated alcohol from their lives is invaluable and really helps.
It takes a little time to break the behavior patterns but well worth it. Go to a meeting get a 'sponsor' maybe find a better way of life.
