Serious question. Alcohol is complete and utter poison, yet people put that into their bodies. People don't need to drink to have a good time. The only kind of wine I drink has the word "cheer" in font of it !

I agree, but for a completely different reason. Alcohol tastes like gasoline to me...I find it so objectionable that I really don't understand how people can drink, let alone enjoy it. It tastes AWFUL! Why drink when you can have an ice cold Pepsi? Look at that son-of-a-bitch...delicious.

I drink water to stay hydrated, I drink alcohol to get drunk. I've been known to do the latter in Baptist church parking lots, pondering the question, why do people go to Baptist churches?

I think soft drinks are probably worse for your health than moderate drinking. Especially the ones with aspartame in them.

I'm sure that's true. My aversion to alcohol has nothing to do with health concerns...I just happen to have a super-duper over-developed nervous system--I'm ultra sensitive to objectionable odors, tastes, sounds, whatever. Basically, I'm Daredevil.

Actually the same thing was in the news about the food inspections in local area restaurants. They found fecal matter bacteria in the soda fountains in several Fairfax County fast food restaurants. also i used to work for a chain coffee shop and i know that many of those places are not very sanitary. But hey safe is a state of mind anyway. Baptists are judgemental.

Way back alcohol was the only safe thing to drink. Water was not clean. Now, however, there's evidence that wine and beer are actually good for you, in moderation. But then, almost everything is good for you, in moderation, and when consumed in excess, not good for you.

Nah, honestly, I don't drink very much, or very often. When I do though, I enjoy it, but I never go past keeping a buzz (I've seen my friends puking their guts out and going KO, but I don't like that garbage myself). I first really drank in the Bahamas, so I got used to undiluted liquor. Some people who I know who only ever drank beer, they try rum for the first time, and they drink it like water, then they pay for it.
Also, it depends upon the type of alcohol, because certain wines for instance are known to have health benefits when ingested in moderation.

I think people drink because they are bored. The more bored you get with life, the more you drink. That's why you need to elevate the risk factor every once in a while and, say, rob a bank or two in your lifetime. Or, you could take it up a notch and do something really insane, like watch a 4-hour documentary on polar bears.

I could never understand those people who drink and get angry. Whatever is going on in their heads, they will often go out of their way to incite riots or start fights with people 3x their size. Funny to watch though.

I'm a happy drunk, too. I get happy. Then I get somber. Then I sleep...once the room stops spinning.
