I swear! NOVA feels like Middle America compared to C-ville. Was there not long ago, and it really felt like things have changed. It's like Berkely California. Only more so!

In what way is it any more liberal than NoVa? Sure it's a college town, so slants a bit more liberal than most places in "real" Virginia, but it still has that rustic, plucky and country bumpkin feel to it as say, Roanoke.

Lived in both places. C'ville has little in common with Roanoke. Roanoke started out as and until very recently still had the feel of being a blue collar industrial town.

Charlottesville feels more liberal because of all the stupid liberal kids from NOVA go down there to UVA. They have a Southern frat, element, though. So it's still feels a lot more like real Virginia than does NOVA. I would say they are about equal in liberal idiocy.

Richmond has always been Democrat. Look at the voting history. The surrounding counties are still more conservative than NOVA. Short Pump is a wannabee Fairfax, and it still doesn't even come close.
