So why was Trump and his reps lying about it during the campaign? They claimed the talks stopped in the first months of 2016.

Why would Trump lie about talks on a deal that would make him hundreds of millions of dollars for a hotel in Moscow? Why would he adopt a policy of easing economic sanctions on Russia and not mention his discussions for Trump Moscow development?
