#1 I live near gov workers - you go by that neighborhood the fuckers are always home in the middle of the day.

#2 they get SALARY, paid by the year. WTOP totally lies

why would someone lament gov workers for working without pay?

the WTOP douches are now saying "contractors who work FOR feds won't be paid but will have to work"

I recommend kicking their ass, the feds on annual salary even making a hint of work without pay (assuming your pay isn't much higher than minimum wage - but since it is - don't fucking bother me unless there's a murder or a birth)

even so it's fake news because contractors have CONTRACTS and already have christmas schedules worked out

Generally the contractors are just told not to come to work, but unlike the Feds who will be payed eventually, the contractors do not get paid. So if the government is shut down for say 3 weeks, contractors simply lose those 3 weeks of pay. If you are living paycheck to paycheck, you could very easily lose your house and everything.

"Federal workers are working without pay today." (omitting the contractor story which also is a lie). Contractors are not federal workers*

(contractors are private industry or 501c: they DO NOT get paid the same, are not taxed the same, not the same in any manner - they are just "local business")

Government workers look forward to government shutdowns to take cruises, etc.
Government workers who are told not to come to work will still get paid for the period they were not working. In effect they get a free PAID vacation.
